label in layout needs to be blank. won't accept it.

I am using icons for the tabs in the layout section. I do not want to use labels because it looks awful when you use both icons and labels. I tried leaving the labels blank, but when compiled it still says label1 and label 2. I tried putting blank and clear but the labels still show the text. I used a single period hoping that would make it acceptable, but the little dot shows up and ruins the looks of the entire project. I've looked around and seem to find no answer. Any ideas? Thanks.

You can use a hard space. Depending on your system and keyboard config it might be alt+space or ctrl+alt+space or shift+space or something else. If you're on a mac, it'll be something else again. Failing all those you can use the html for a hard space -   - but you'll probably lose the formatting if you re-save your tabbed layout at any time.

Thanks for trying, but neither worked. I used the hard space and it came back with label 1, label 2. The   shows just that,  . I know there has to be an answer. Thanks though.

It works; you may not have hit the right key combo. I've done it plenty of times. On a Mac, it's command + space (at the same time); hold down the command key; hit space. Cheers! -- Smug

No, it doesn't work, at least in my situation. Went back and tried 3 more times. I have a pc, not a mac. Thanks.

While holding down your 'ALT' key, type "255". Cheers! -- Smug

Tried both Alt and press 0160 and Alt and press 255. When I publish, it goes right back to label 1 and label 2. Thanks for the suggestion though.

What about changing the text color for the label to whatever color the background is? That way, you comply with the label requirement, but nobody can see it. Mark

I don't think you can change the text color on the tabs without custom code. Would a backslash work? Not this one: /. The escape slash.

Just to put an end to it, ask Smug to login to your account, have him type-in the "hard space" for you. If you ask nicely, Smug might oblige :-) You can watch him do it via JoinMe.com for free. Just have to sync on the time zone differences. -- Niraj
