Tracking 'clicks' on a map or list

Hi all, Back into BT after some time away (no, not jail, just a whopping big holiday!)... and slooooowly getting my neurons firing again. I'm wondering if there's a way to keep track of things that happen inside the app when users are, um, using it? Basically if I have a store that is listed in my dbase and it's a clickable point on my map, or an entry on a list view, I want to be able to say to the shopkeeper "Hey, 23 people have looked at your store this week!". Can I do that? (I guess the same question applies to links within the app, links that take you out, and any other 'clickable' action.) - And if I'm in the wrong "tracking" thread, please say so. :) Cheers Paddy

Take a look at using an external SDK from Flurry, etc. I've not had experience with it. iOS 8 will have some Analytics, perhaps not to the degree you expressed. -- Niraj

Hello Gentlemen, What you are experimenting with is actually similar to what I've been working on for some time. Not that I have had much success. LOL Nonetheless, I wanted to suggest creating an external Google Map and possibly adding JSON notes to the map. I'm having trouble with this since i have a BT 1.0 app that won't use the JSON data to place buttons on the map. Any thoughts?

I know I know redo the app in v2 or v.3 ... but that would be too easy. Looking for a way to possibly open an html page with my "app map" and publicly editable data on it.

Wow! An original BT 1.0 developer! Will those apps still run on iOS 7 and 8 and Android 4?

I don't get any money from that link. Hopefully the very helpful ManiacDev web site gets a bit of change thrown it's way. :-) -- Niraj

BT v.1 developer in the flesh! :-) Not many v.1 apps around anymore. That ship has sailed. Checked out AppSee. Very cool. Maybe I'll incorporate that in my newer apps. However, as I suspected this was a behind the scenes SDK. I cannot show my customers where they are on the map. However, PaddyO may benefit greatly from AppSee.

As far as the apps running.... YES SIR! My most popular app is a v.1 People trust its simplicity. And its uploaded to the market and running on almost all devices created , Android 4.4 and IOS 7. The future is a toss up. not sure if they will continue to have backwards capability much longer.

AppSee does look interesting, thanks! I think it's more of a UX design/feedback tool from what I can tell; I'm still looking for 'the thing' that can record not *where* someone has clicked, but *what* they have clicked. I'll keep looking, but it somehow has to hook in to my database (of map points and other related data) so I can see who taps on which pins (or the same data in list/table form) and how often. Cheers Paddy
