Will Apple Reject Donation Button In iOS?

Hi can anyone tell me whether Apple will have an issue, if I was to add a Pay Pal donation button or link with an iOS app? Developing an app for a charity organisation and they want this feature added.

I know they have issues with PayPal to pay for content and other things in-app, but I can't imagine they would have an issue with donations for a charity organization. Mark

You need to make sure the donation link uses the "launch native application" function to load a URL. They don't want you to open a simple webview within your app for that (i.e. CustomURL)

@Stobe - so even if we want to include mobile donations in-app via paypal because we can't use in-app purchases (since it's not for in-app content), they wouldn't allow it? That seems strange and contradictory. But yes, I know it's Apple.

@Stobe is exactly correct. I had my app initally rejected because the donate Paypal button opened in the app. I changed the app so the same link opened in Mobile Safari and was approved right away.

Hey guys, Insightful thread here. Wondering if this logic should be followed for all transactions that fall outside of the IAP guidelines? For example if I want someone to be able to use paypal to buy a voucher within my app, do I need to link to a native app?

Hi @mtcoleman9, I would say yes, all purchases that are not IAPs need to be in the native app. I can't be sure, but from what I've experienced as noted above I would think that it how you'd have to do it. Since it's okay for donations, why not vouchers.
