If you don't want to use a splash screen plugin, you need to fill your Media.xcassets file in Xcode. I use the free version of Asset Catalog Creator from the Mac App Store. It can create all different sizes of icons and background screens to just drag into your asset catalog in Xcode. This will eliminate the white background when the app loads or refreshes.
