Thanks for sharing! I went through the web page quickly. I don't yet fully comprehend. Need time to investigate and absorb. However ... comprehension must happen in an Internet minute .... :-) In simple terms, is this a chat engine that can be used within our apps? Or is the chat still done within Facebook's Messenger? -- Niraj

It looks like chat is still done in messenger. Some neat features. But still not a full fledged in app chat. https://messenger.com/platform I checked out giphy and you can get back into the initial app fairly seamlessly. I think they danger here is losing your app users to the messenger app.

I agree, Nick. Why would I give my users over to FB. Instead, l would rather have a Chat Engine for my users to converse in my arena about my app's topics.

I think the trade off here is discoverability. When I used GIPHY to send a message to someone there was a button with the giphy logo on it under the message. On my phone next to the icon was a button that says 'reply' which took me back to the GIPHY app. One the recipients phone the button says 'install', this opened the app store link for the GIPHY app. A tradeoff for sure.

Hi All You would not be *losing* app users to FB messengers unless you were specifically developing a messenger type app, in which case you just may be. NOW: the reluctant peeps who may not see the value right away may not have had a door open for them to see the use cases. Use case: You develop an app for a business or person that has online content of any kind. The messenger platform adds an additional level of social sharing and yet it does indeed bring the user to the FB messenger app, it does a fantastic (seamlessly) of directing the user BACK to the original app by displaying a reply button beneath the post you're sharing. If the receiving party of the post does not have your app installed...they will see an INSTALL link beneath the shared post to you app to engage the user to download your app. If the receiving party already has your app, the install button will be displayed as Open or reply (depending on your setting preferences on the platform) In the above use case, you are providing value to your client by giving them a bigger audience to share their content/message with AND by driving app downloads for those who do not already have the app installed.
