1.5 login

Hello, was wondering what the login feature for 1.5 was about. Looks like it could really be interesting :-)

What it's about? It's about password protecting content or screens or features. In many cases, site visitors have expressed an interest in this. Typically they provide the backend list of users that the app authenticates againt. However, the delay we are having in turning on the Control Panel for v1.5 and releasing it publically is this exact feature. It allows app registation and app user management and that peice of it has hung-us-up a bit timewise. We'll get it.... hammering away 24/ 7 to get it online.

Ok thought it was leaning to the social network side. Has there been talk of adding chatroom features?

Chat, interestin. Havn't worked towards that for several reasons, most of them related to the VERY HEAVY LOAD on our servers ;-)

David, Just wanted to check to make sure-will any app currently being created on v1.4 be able to be edited on v1.5 when it is released? Or will they be incompatable?

Yes, this is a good question. v1.4 apps won't be automatically converted or editable in the new interface for a few technical reasons. However, converting is something lots and lots of folks will want to do. We are aware of this and plan to provide an interface to allow this conversion. Be aware that if you have distributed any 1.4 apps (App Store, Cidia, etc) that those will need to be recompiled and updated in whatever app store they are in. Also, the initial release will not support Android so think hard before converting a v1.4 app to the newer release.

@Roy... SOOOO close. We continuing to find little issues and add features and have struggled a bit to just cut it off and turn on the control panel. Today I'm working out why the darned sound-player (that you can attached to image screens and such) is not downloaded .mp3's properley. Works awsome if the song, ad, voice-over is included in the Xcode project but not doing what it's suppossed to when the .mp3 comes form the web. Rant, rant, blah, blah... We'll get it. Maybe over the weekend at some point? We've said that for more than a few weeks now. For sure, I want to get this out more than you want it out! Cheers

Hi David, is it possible to copy an app and then convert it to v1.5 that way you can have same app in v1.4 to support Android and converted one for IOS? I really want to convert but have the same app on Android and don't want to burn those users. Or do you have another idea as how to have two versions supported until Android is supported by v1.5?

You're on the right track. What we were thinking is... when you convert an exisitng 1.4 app to 1.5, you won't be replacing it, you'll be making a new one. So, your control panel would show two apps, one 1.4 and one 1.5. This will allow you to leave the Android version alone and it will still function. Then, you could spruce up the iOS version or simply leave it looking the same but running the latest release with it's performacne improvements, etc.

Hey David, I understand this general mentality concerning having a 1.4 and 1.5 version of the app, and I think that's a good approach. Just to clarify, it won't be a necessity to transfer to the new version correct? (I ask because I should be getting an App uploaded to the market any day now, so it would be a shame to have to tear it all down!) Thank you, -Dan

v1.4 applications will be unaffected by the new release. The control panel and all the necessary parts of the system to support v1.4 is not changing. The only difference will be in the way you make a new app - you'll have a choice between versions. Another way to say it, it's feasable that you could have some apps running one version and some other aps running the new version - no worries.

I'm pretty sure it's a NO, but just wondered if all the work I did on my v1.4 is able to transfer to a v1.5 app? I want to update my app using the new version but don't want to lose all the map data etc I've put in my original one? Thanks

Wondering if you have a solution to converting a 1.4 project to a 1.5 project yet. Thanks
