Emulator want start in Eclipse after installing Android SDK R 12

Greetings from a newbie- If you've successfully installed Java SDK, Eclipse, ADT plugin, and the Android SDK R12 and the emulator wont start in Eclipse and you receive an error message like name emulator @foo it's because currently there's a problem with R12 where the SDK location cannot contain any spaces. It is being worked on I'm told. This worked for me on Windows 7; 64 bit: The default installation location is: C:\Programme Files(x86)\Android\android-sdk. They are currently fixing the problem but you can currently work around it by changing the SDK location path in eclipse to C:\PROGRA~2\Android\android-sdk

Uncle Sam lives in LA - who da thunk it ;-) Great tip...for sure folks will make use of it. Android's tough to set up for sure but once it's running it does pretty well.

Hello. If you installed the Android SDK to it's default folder: C:ProgramFiles(x86)Androidandroid-sdk just change the path in Eclipse in Help/Preference/to: C:PROGRA~2Androidandroid-sdk but don't rename the actual folder.

Change from: C:ProgramFiles(x86)\Androidandroid-sdk to C:PROGRA~2\Androidandroid-sdk Don't forget slashes for folders and no spaces between them. (For newbies..)

Newbie question: Just to be clear on how to you get Eclipse to accept the change: I'm using Version: 3.7.0 Build id: I20110613-1736 Windows>Preferences>Android>SDK Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk If I change to anything else, Eclipse error is Value must be an existing directory What exactly (including slashes and whatever) should I do to get Eclipse to allow this change? Thanx for the help!

Hello. Close Eclipse Cut and paste the android-sdk-windows file from where you saved it and move it to the C: directory. C:\Android\android-sdk-windows If you didn’t place the android-sdk-windows into a folder then just use this path: C:\android-sdk-windows Now the Android debugger shouldn't worry about there being a space in the file path. Also if you're running Windows 7 64-bit operating system, make sure to locate the Eclipse icon Right click it,Click Properties / Shortcut / Advanced / Select Run as Administrator / Click OK. I hope this helps.
