Uploading to Android Market

I tried to upload my app to the Android market. The Android market site asked for the the apk file. I found it using the search function on Windows Explorer: C:\Buzztouch\Android\bin\trifoodies.apk Here's the error message I got from Android Market: Upload a valid APK. Also, anyone has any tips on how to create really good screen shots? I don't have Photoshop so I'm hoping to find something online that will meet the Android market's specs. Thx!

Hi, You probably didn't sign your APK file. I'm guess this since you had to search for it... you haven't created your signature for it. I'd cut and paste this link in your browser: http://www.androiddevelopment.org/tag/apk/

Hi HottWeelz, I read the instructions. For a non-techie like me, that's a bit complicated :-) For example, I don't even know how to get into the Java SDK, sigh! But thanks for your response, I appreciate it. DAVID: are all these steps really required for Buzztouch? I'm trying to find Instructions on Submitting to Android Market on the Buzztouch website hoping there may be an easier, non-techie way. Fingers crossed!

You can also get that same message if you try to fill in all the other data in the market before uploading the .apk file. YES you must sign the cert. I know right now google has no API into the market so we need to download and compile etc... Thinking of the ramifications if I do it for some people.. So let me get feedback before I say yes!!! Sometimes setting up the pc does take a little work. Maybe the better solution is helping people get the pc setup.. I just don't want to get over loaded as if I am not already. LOL

Hello, I'm stuck here too. Read instructions & googled it then got stuck (have found the file as well though). Can anyone recommend a 'signing a cert for dummies' link? thanks! :D

I have found the best way to do this is create a self signed during the export proccess: You can use this self cert over and over again: In Eclipse: 1. right click your project 2 go down to Android Tools 3. Select Export Signed Application Package 4. You will have your project listed Click Next: 5. The next section is where you will start to create your own cert: - Location (This is where you will store it just pick a location and remember it :)) - Password (create a password, you will need to remeber this if you are going to use this same cert down the road) - Click next 6. You should now see something like Alias (Pick a name it can be your name if you like) - Give it a password (same as the one in step 5 makes it easier - Validity 25 - That is realy all you need the rest is upto you.. 7 follow the next next ext out. It should then create you a signed .apk file that you can push to the market. Happy NEW YEAR!!!!

THANKS SAME TO YOU!! This worked fine for my first app. Not so well with my second. I did the following: 1. right click your project 2 go down to Android Tools 3. Select Export Signed Application Package 4. You will have your project listed Click Next: 5. When I selected use existing keystore, (its the first time i've tried to sign this app so not sure if this is correct) and browsed to \bin\myappname.apk I had to then put in a password (made it up). On the next scren I couldn't use existing alies at the drop down was empty, so I slected create new. Then I had to fill in a screen with my details, and then another screen where I browsed to destination APK folder. 6. Then I got this error: Invalid keystore format So I went back.... 5. New keystore, and browsed to \bin\myappname.apk (exitsing apk) and put in new password. 6. Same error Again.. 5. New keystore, and browsed to new folder and put in new file name ending apk 6. Hit next, hit finished, and got tiny apk file :( If only I had written down what I did first time around!
