So are there disadvantatges at this point to creating a new app using 1.5?

I have been playing with buzztouch for a few days now and I have my first app running pretty well in the simulator, but I find that a lot of things I want to do such as rss feeds, a photo album, etc. aren't supported on the 2.0 side yet. I am also looking at going to a self hosted control panel, but are there reasons I really shouldn't just do the app using 1.5 which supports the features/screens I am needing?

Hi @fearmart, I don't think there are any disadvantages to using v1.5. I believe the plan is to make v2.0 as feature rich as v1.5, and to be able to provide a mechanism to port the apps over. Bottom line is that if v1.5 has the features you need, then I think you should go with that. I have apps of all three versions, and simply choose the version that supports the app features I need! Actually there are many disadvantages to using BTv1.5. Only one very minor advantage. See Buzztouch Screens article in my guide. www.MySkylla.com Fred

if you do end up going to self hosted, check this out: http://buzztouchmods.com/forum/index.php#post_29 otherwise, in the near future, 2.0 will be * extremely* more advantagable (is that a word?!) then 1.5, 2.0 is made to surpass 1.5 by design - it's only a matter of time (if not already!). In my Buzztouch Screens article I list all available screens and plugins (both Buzztouch & 3rd party) The only two screens not available are iBook and Custom Plugin. Already there are several plugins for BTv2.0 that are not available in BTv1.5. Given the additional features and growing support for BTv2.0 I doubt for most users that it would be wise to use BTv1.5. For Android it's a simple contrast. For iOS, it's not as simple but do you really wish to invest time and energy into a platform that's not being developed. For a few (and few is the defining word) it does make sense to use BTv1.5. Hint: If you don't know why you're choosing BTv1.5 you're not one of the few. Fred

Thanks, guys. I just upgraded to self hosted. Where would I find a comprehensive list of plugins available for BTv2.0?

I found several things I wanted to use in my apps unavailable in 2.0 when I last looked, so I'm sticking with 1.5 for now. Will check out 2.0 again in the future, but setting up my own bt server sounds *scary*
