map zoom question

I am using a buzzttouch map with various locations. V2.0 Is it possible to open the map zoomed in on users location. I have asked before but no one has answered. im sure someone on here can point me in the right direction or tell me if i need to create a custom Google map and of so point me in the direction if a great guide in how to do this. Come on where's the buzzttouch pros. Look forward to any reply this time even its to tell me no. Thanks in advance.

If your using a location map look under 'Map Behavior', change the default zoom to a lower number. I believe multiple locations will cause the map to zoom out to fit all pins on screen. I'm on my iPad so I can't look at the code but if you open up the view controller the code isn't hard too hard to follow... Prob not much help. I'll take a look later and get back with specifics if someone else doesn't first. Tim Wolf

Hi thanks for the replies. I will check out the info and let you know what happens. Just to bring you up to speed as to why i require this feature. I recently released an app which displays the position of people across the globe and after the last addition in new Zealand the map is forced to full zoom out which displays blank map. so i would like to add a default zoom to the users position so they can then see the points local to them. Thanks

Ha ha sorry if i made it sound awesome its really just basic compared to some apps. it shows a static map pin and contact details of local bagpipers in order to book them for weddings etc. Also hooked up their existing websites via custom url screens etc. its my first app and its on Google play its called Global Piper Hire (will post a link soon). hit me up with a review if you like! I may have to shift it to an external map at some point as can only use 100 screens in app. so if you know a good guide (aka the for dummies version) of how to make a custom Google map and host it on dropbox or something i would be appreciative of it. Thanks

Mr Stuck if your limited to 100 screens you should upgrade to self hosting - lots of power there! Drop box is a fun solution, but I like to keep things native for apple. David buzztouchmods.com

I plan to charge for pipers being on app and its always been my intention to self host eventually once i get up and running. i upgraded to the 19.99 developer account as using this awesome service buzztouch provide for free almost felt like stealing if you know what i mean. i don't know how to set up self host yet but i definitely will do so in the future. thanks

haha I get ya. If you wan to self host for cheap, have it all installed for you with third party plugins and mods, and also have live phone/teamviewer support for it, check out: https://www.buzztouchmods.com/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=8 David buzztouchmods.com

Thanks i definitely will keep that in mind when the app grows too big for the developer account. I just finished my working week (hopefully something i won't be doing for too much longer if all goes to plan with app development) and now have a few days off to sit down with buzztouch and figure out this zoom problem. thanks for all the help and i will let you know how i get on. Have a good weekend!

I think you might go about this a different way. If you read the readme.txt with the location map plugin it describes a way to load the location data from a URL, which you could maintain independent of the app and just have the app pull in the data. If I understand the purpose of your app I believe this would reduce your need for all those screens. It would be one location map screen and the data file which you could more easily manage. One thing not included in the readme.txt is the format for the data file... Good luck. Tim
