Hi gang. There is a new plugin available in 2.0 control panels, an interactive quiz. Users that have been around awhile will recognize this plugin from previous Quiz screen types. It's very very similiar. Identical in many ways, different in others. This the first "quiz" supported on Android since way back in the v1.4 days. We've tested it lots but do expect a few comments, bugs, and things we didn't consider. Add to this post as necessary. As with any new plugin, it make take some time to work through some mysteries ;-)

Thanks David! Does this include the RANDOMIZE mod that was posted last week? I changed the uniquePluginId so I could take a look at it running alongside the 2.0 Quiz I already have on my server. I've still yet to play with Stobes other quiz mods. I want that True/False functionality. IIRC it was for BT 1.5. Have you looked at adding T/F to BT quizzes at some point?

In the BT_Plugins\bt_screen_quiz folder, I think these are the header images you are looking to replace: * quizBg_large.png * quizBg_small.png Mark

Yup, you can either change the image itself (in the drawables folder after downloading the project) OR just change the "name of the image" to the image you added to the project instead. If you change the name, just search and replace for the quizBg_large.png and quizBg_small.png file names in the .java file. Crashing on images: This shouldn't be happening. We did lots of testing with images and didn't experience this. Are you sure you're using the right image names or URL's? Once again, get used to using the LogCat to show you what is / isn't happening. Filter it by the tag "zz" like it shows in the Android Learning Path video (6) "Tracking Events."

Hi David, I had installed the Quiz Plugin from BuzztouchMods By PSMDanny few days back. And Now while Installing your Interactive Quiz Plugin I am getting the following error. ----------------------------------- Duplicate plugin. The config.txt file for this plugin includes a uniquePluginId value of "quiz". You already have a plugin with this uniquePluginId and duplicates are not allowed. You can either check the "Update Existing Plugin" box then upload it again. Or, you can change the uniquePluginId value in it's config.txt file. ---------------------------------- Any Idea what can be done in this case? I think it is a nomenclature Issue and there has to be some process so that these conflicts can be avoided. If a third Party is making a plugin.

^ unzip the new plugin and open the config.txt file Change the uniquePluginId to something like "interactivequiz" (don't use a space in the name) Re-zip the package and upload it to your server. Now you can run it alongside the other one. when you decide which one you like better (likely the new one) Then remove the other plugin from your server control panel. I'm using them both this way while i check out this new fastastic quiz David has given us.

This is working great for me except for the scoring. I have 5 questions (20 points each). When each of the first three questions are answered correctly, they are awarded 20 points each, but when the fourth question is answered correctly it shows "3x" and awards 60 points and when the fifth question is answered correctly, it shows "4x" and awards 80 points. Is there a way to assign the same number of points for all 5 questions that I'm not seeing? I've typed "20" in the "Points Per Correct Answer (number)" field.

Hi... May Thanks... But... All works Fine but when i Start the Quiz there comes a PopUp with "No Question? This quiz does not have any questions associated with it?". Then i Push Okay on that PopUp and the Questions are here and i can Play the Quiz.. Second Question... How goes the "String" to send the Results from the Quiz (Time, Points etc...) per eMail to an Specific Email Adress? Thanks for Support...

I am having two problems, the first is that what i wan to add an image to it, it crashes when you go to run the quiz. This doesn't really bother me as i am not using images, just thought i would let you know. the second problem is that when i start the quiz, (not the application just the quiz part of it), it says that there are no questions associated with the quiz, but when i dismiss the message (ok), there are in-fact questions there and they are playable/useable. so i don't know what is happening here?

I'm seeing the same issue on a test app I have...says there are no questions, but you can see one right behind that screen! I've contacted David to see if we can get this worked out. Mark

@shenry: The current implementation is to give the user a "bonus" if they answer correctly a few questions in a row. There isn't any built in way to change this. If you want to ignore this "bonus" process, you'll need to modify the logic in the source code after downloading the package. iOS: See BT_screen_quiz.m look at the logic beginning on line 993. You'll see that "streak" refers to the number of questions the user answered correctly in a row. Android: See BT_screen_quiz.java, see around line 739 and look for "numberStreak." You could easily just re-set this to "zero" on every answer so the user never gets a bonus. To do this, just add a numberStreak = 0 on line 735. @Worker73: Your question about sending the results via email is a good one. You cannot send an email from a device without user intervention. It's not possible. But, you could write a script that lives on your website that "accepts" the results, then send an email. Your PHP powered backend can easily send emails. @everyone else: I'm looking into the "no questions" message, stay tuned about this....

OK, the "this quiz does not have any questions associated with it" message is a simple fix. I'm assuming nobody is seeing this in iOS, only Android. It has been fixed on the BT hosted version and I'll get the downloadable plugin version (for self hosted users updated soon). In the meantime, for self hosted users, or for folks that do not want to re-download their projects, the solution is a simple one. Again, Android only. Find BT_screen_quiz.java and open it in a text editor. Scroll down to line 986 and find: showAlert("No Questions?", "This quiz does not have any questions associated with it?"); Remove this line altogether, or just comment it out like: //showAlert("No Questions?", "This quiz does not have any questions associated with it?"); All will be well. I'll get the downloadable plugin updated sometime in the next few hours.

@jawdoss: OK, looking into the randomize question for Android. @Worker73: Agree, strings.xml should contain the text for alert messages and other text displayed to the user. It's tough to do this using the plugin design because it would require including a new strings.xml file with each plugin. Hmm, needs some thinking.... Doesn't matter in this case anyway, that message should not be there to begin with! Funny.

@David, While i have hold of you :P, would you know how to make an alert on android that asks you to rate the app and has the interactive stars in it? if you know what i mean, also you should look into adding a paypal option to upgrade the account. I would upgrade but don't have credit card to put in. (don't use credit cards, only debit)

I notice The quiz makes the questions random when the questions are on BT. but when i have the questions being hosted from somewhere else the questions only go in order. Is there a way to fix this or do the questions have to be on BT in order for them to randomize. Thanks :)

With the quiz plugin how can we make it so that you can level up? e.g. When you finish level 1 quiz it will unlock the level 2 button and allow you to play that? Is that possible to do with android? If not i think it would be a good idea to put into the quiz plugin.

theres a reward screen, link that to another quiz etc. i think thats how u can but didnt test it yet

ok. i will give it a try tomorrow. but it would be better if it was a menu screen listing all the levels and you can unlock them from finishing the quiz before it.

Levels; You'll need to work out your own solution for this. There are countless (thousands really) of ways to organize "game play" so it's not possible for the standard plugin to account for this. But..you could... a) Create a backend script that provides menu items. b) The menu powered by the backend script (data URL) would show quizzes available to THAT USER. This means you'll need to create a script that is intelligent enough to understand which quizzes to show. c) Use this menu strategically to show the user what quizzes to play. All sorts of ideas can be realized when you figure out how to power screens and menus from a remote URL. Example: A geo-aware quiz app could show a menu of quizzes related to the users location. On and on....

Oh, ok then. have you figured out whats going wrong with some of the android randomise option?
