Is there a BlackBerry version?

We worked and completed a BlackBerry version early on but were unhappy with the results. It worked well on some devices and horribly on others. We have not totally written it off but don't plan on supporting BlackBerry anytime soon. We base this decision on the fact that literally thousands and thousands of folks visit our site each month, and we almost never hear BlackBerry related questions, it's difficult to justify continuing developing for a device that nobody seems interested in? If you are a BlackBerry fan and would like to see a BlackBerry version of your buzztouch app, let us know. If enough folks express interest, we'll move it up the priority list.

Hi Dave, when I was showing and talking to people about buzz touch almost everyone asked about blackberry, would love to see BT on 3 platforms, would cover all the bases...was working on app for a golf club and they said that only 3% of members had iPhone and rest either android or blackberry...thought iPhone would be most popular...thanks!! Funny. Your audience is NOTHING like the audience we've been hearing from. I dont' say this to disrespect (of course we would follow the interst) it's just that we get nearly zero inquiries about this out of many many thousands. This doens't mean that there aren't a boat-load of BB out there, there are. Like I mentioned before, I have done LOTS of BB development and some major projects that supported all three major platforms. However, the implementation of any one code-base (like BT relies on) is nearly impossible with so many different models, keyboard types, operating system, etc. The way BB operting systems differ from phone-to-phone is widly different than Android or IOS's 'update process' Lastly, we could implmement a VERY SIMPLE app in BB. But, nobody wants a super-simple app, most folks want flexibility, style, animations, images, graphics, sound, video, etc. We never rule out everything forever, just not going to happen anytime soon. Sorry.

I only found out recently, during the riots, that unknown 100's of thousands of teenagers/20somethings are using Blackberrys in the UK, admittedly, mainly for the free mass messaging service, but it's a great demogaphic for entertainment/game (even education) apps... Sorry to bump an olllllllllld thread :O

Hmmmm.... UK > RIM (from Canada) what' the US missing! Funny. Good thoughts, we'll see where this goes after getting some of the other platforms supported.

In South Africa 44% of all smart phone are BB.. see this article published today 18/11/2011 BlackBerry is considered South Africa’s most popular smartphone platform (and brand) – a position that is largely driven by the flat-rated Internet package available on BlackBerry smartphones known as BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service). Google backed up this intuition with survey results earlier this month (November 2011) when it revealed that BlackBerry has 44% of the South African smartphone market share. This followed the findings of surveys from earlier in the year, one by World Wide Worx and Dashboard, the other by Nielsens. Results from both surveys showed that BlackBerry had a low share in the greater cellphone market, but that a large number of individuals wanted a BlackBerry as their next device. With mobile operators beginning to launch their summer specials, prospective BlackBerry owners may be interested in seeing which operator has the cheapest deals around. Thanks

Is Germiston in South Africa? One of my dream vacation spots!!! We did lots and lots of BB stuff early on and struggled. Mostly due to our inability to balance all the devices (iOS, Android, BB). Today, it could be easier, especially since we have a biger motive (international users). I also understand that the developer / tools / SDK process has improved greatly from a few years ago. For sure we should re-visit our early on decision to not do BB. Any idea what BB version / operating system you would target first? Can we target them all. Are they nothing more than HTML 5 apps packages in a download? Hmm...maybe easier than we realize, especially since an HTML version in your control panel is on the road map.

Germiston is middle to poor class in SA.... no point in visiting lol... But SA is great. looks of cool places to see.. of course Cape Town is a must... (Germiston is in Johannesburg.. where the work force is)... ON the BB.. because the networks have promoted the BB 8820/8830 for the last 2 years these are your biggest.. however the new Bolds 9700 etc are now cheap and better.. (3G is big in SA and the networks have spent good money upgrading it..) So the BB say from 5 on wards will be the aim.. BB v7 also out on the tablets and BB top phones but so far the devices are expensive.. in good old SA...
