QR Code to Load Specific Screen

Can a QR Code be used to load a specific screen in an app? And if so, how? I am making an app which would allow specified interaction at different events, and wanted event organizers to be able to put a QR Code on their marketing information that would load the interaction screen for their event. I know QR Code's load web pages, I just wasn't sure about app screens.

The best way I can think of doing this is using the Custom URL scheme and then linking the QR code to your custom URL. Instructions: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16651980/CustomURLScheme.pdf

That's a cool tutorial lol. You could make also make a Qr code plugin. The problem with my tutorial is, it was kind of built for aurasma. So if you tapped its custom URL it would take you to a screen Obviously if they had your app installed it would be all good, but if not what would it do. I would personally send it to web address which check if app is installed. If yes send the custom url to device if not pont to AppStore

Could also build in a qr code reader and tell users 'scan this with our app'. Then it would be super easy to load a specific screen based on the qr code.

Kittsy - how would I set-up the URL to check for the app? Chris - that's kinda the route I'm thinking would be best...so how do I go about that process?

I've done this before with some success. Although I never integrated it in my app, I have successfully done this. Use the Aurasma plugin that Kittsy made, and create auras with those QRs. Then you can create a video or something to show what you want to show.

For my approach, you need to start with a QR code reader - either add in an open source project or have Kittsy make you one (he's a pro at qr readers). I would then use a URL for the qr code and detect the URL in the app with the qr reader and direct to an in-app screen. The advantage to using a URL here is so that if someone scans the code from a regular qr reader, it will still work, it will just direct them to a website. (The website could then link to the app on the App Store)

Jefe, This is something I've put on the Plugin Wishlist. I'm pleased that there is someone else that can use this. I'm no programmer, but I would love to see a plugin like this. The link Kittsy provided is for IOS only and I need this for Android.

SGB - I'm no programmer either, but definitely trying! This doesn't seem like it will be too difficult to figure out, so I'll definitely keep you posted. What department do you work for?

I work for an organisation in Healthcare. What I'm going to do with a plugin like this is making a simple virtual tour. I will put an QR code on different locations and when the QR code is scanned (with the app) it wil open a specific screen with a Youtube movie for example or an image gallery, or an audio file, or ... Maybe aurasma can do this too, but I need it for Android.
