Hi everyone, I could use some help. I'm seeing an error every time that I do anything both in the BT CP and on my self hosted. An attempt to perform any and all actions is throwing up the following: "result":"error", "errors":"Existing nickname or a new nickname required" I can't get my head around it. Like I say, it started on my self-hosted cp, so I thought I'd build a test app on BT to help identify whether it's just some problem with my server & self-hosted. Exactly the same issue came up with the BT CP. It affects everything, I can't even add a line to the default blank list menu without getting blocked by this error, so am currently unable to do anything whatsoever. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas?

Yep, it's a silly known issue with some users in the 3.0 core files. After changing the name a couple of times in your CP, it will go away... but first you have to use a different name for those menu items that are throwing the error. You can always change it back to the original name later after you change it. It only affects some users for some weird reason. Happened to me as well, but everything went back to normal after a few name changes on the menu items. Just delete that current item, recreate it with a new name, then you can go change the name back to what it was after it's created if you want (or need) to.

Thanks Ninja, but the issue that I'm having is that I can't use *any* name, even on the first time. For example: 1. Blank app with default blank list menu. 2. Enter name for line in list menu w/select a plugin > menu simple. Get Error 3. Try again with different name. Error. 4. Delete default menu, start a new menu with a different name. Get the same errors all over again. So even using different names/changing names is impossible, all that I get is that damn error.

Ahhhh... Sorry about that. I misunderstood the issue. Is this a new installation of self hosted, or did it just start happening on an existing installation?

Hmmmm... sorry to say that one's beyond my knowledge. Strange it would be happening on both. I was just working on my self hosted project a few minutes ago and no issues on my end. If all else fails, maybe try PM'ing PSMDanny... he's a server god, and any error message thrown back from the server, he's probably encountered a thousand times and could probably tell you off the top of his head what to check.

If it's happening on 'both', and you can't get anything to work, check with the name that you're using… I can see it happening 'occasionally'… but if it happens 'consistantly', then I'm more inclined to think illegal character. Just a thought… Cheers! -- Smug

Thanks for the observation Smug, however I was putting in any and all names just to try and unblock this: 'dummy menu', 'simple menu' etc. etc. And nothing seems to work.
