New Plugin: Smug androidHTML for BTv3 Android

http://www.buzztouch.com/plugins/plugin.php?pid=BB9E7E5EE65303F35F29CE0 This is a very simple plugin. It does not contain all of the same features as a full fledged browser. It only serves to display a simple HTML Page; Not control. Display. It doesn't email, it doesn't do much of anything except 'display' an HTML page without having to launch another app from your app. I built this as a workaround for something I needed. It does what I need. If it does what you need, I feel it's reasonably priced for the bother of putting it together. If it does not do what you need, or you think it's too expensive, you can start on your own; I've documented most of what needs to be done here: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=A4A8028CBD94ED3F9249414&fid=5FE1FB2355A48AD674A6CA3 For BTv3 Android only. iOS doesn't have the same issues. If you want to use this and an iOS web browser, I suggest using Chris1's Menu with Image advanced, with the ability to discern iOS and Android specific menus. Cheers! -- Smug

Just goes to show what you can achieve if you don't shut up. ;) I do sleep… but most of you statesiders are at work while I'm napping. Cheers! -- Smug

Thanks, very nice. In a nutshell then this is just the 2.0 HTML Doc that has been neutered down and moved from Activity based view to Fragment based? A bargain at $4 for that coding - and probably some good code to study if you're trying to do this with other screens. I've been fighting thru some converting showdialog() to DialogFragments. Brutal!

Smug, is it compatible with HTML5? That is, will it correctly display HTML5 content?

Not sure. Send me an HTML 5 page and I'll test it for you and send a screen shot. Cheers! -- Smug

@Research: I'll give a tentative "probably". given that all circumstances are different, I'd hate to commit to something I can't say is 100% accurate. However, I did load an HTML 5 page with Javascript on it, and it looks and performs great. However, I also have audio embedded in the page, but it doesn't play. I'll snoop around a little to see if it's my plugin or if it's Android, but for the moment, facts are facts. Looks great, doesn't play audio. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/115208762/leaves.png If you want to test it yourself, or just nab the page and required elements, I have them stashed here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/115208762/leaves.zip It wouldn't take too much to substitute the elements here, and have a page with cupids for Valentines day, Pumpkins for Halloween, Flags for July 4th, whatever… Cheers! -- Smug Edit: and if you just want to 'see' the page without having to setup anything, try here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/115208762/leaves/javaleaves.html

Thanks, Smug. I started researching the issue and ended up going down a Google "rabbit hole" on WebView and related stuff in Android. I don't have an example of the HTML5 thing I thought about using with your plugin, and I'm back to thinking I'll be better off skipping HTML5 and developing a plugin of my own to do what I was thinking of doing using HTML5.
