Well, you get to use some of the great new plugins for one and some only work for 3.0. Also, Apple has required that apps use iOS7 as the base sdk. The new 3.0 is optimized for just that. Its more stable all around although you might see bug reports etc. I prefer using 3.0 for new projects and I'm currently updating old projects to be fully 3.0!

Most of the bugs have been worked out - we're working hard on hats left. 3.0 is definitely better than 2.x though. You won't be disappointed.

I didn't have much time before, but I wanted to say that there are plenty of good reasons to update, including the fact that all the support now is really for the latest version and that several new plugins are only available for BT 3.0. I know it can be quite daunting and there will be a learning curve, but in the end, it has to be done and don't forget, there are plenty of people here that will work with you to solve any issues. Welcome back, Alan

A long thread here covering problems with moving your self-hosted, together with some positive comments about hostgator near the end. Worth a read @Techtagon I suggest... https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=03D0FED4CA63AE899242DEB&sortColumn=FT.id&sortUpDown=DESC&currentPage=2

Make sure the host allows for dedicated ip. Necessary for push notifications. Host gator offers such I believe. I use just host and had to play $3 extra a month for dedicated.
