App runs correctly on old ver 2.3.4, not on 4.4.2

And I now see my other apps have a random screen or two that occurs the same way! The device I'm testing is a nexus 7 with the latest software, Android 4.4.2 However, I have an old phone which runs 2.3.4 and the device runs the apps just fine. No black screens. Is there something I need to do to my apps in eclipse to make them run correctly on devices with the latest software? Thanks.
