More regular BT Updates ....

Not in terms of Software, more in terms of Information. Over the last two months with the release of BT3.0 there has been a flurry of new plugin releases and associated bug repairs and mods undertaken to both plugins and the BT core. Undoubtedly the BT team and associated developers have been chipping away feverishly at resolving some of these issues (which we all appreciate immensely) and working towards making BT even better. Whilst there is numerous forum posts regarding many of these issues and the simplest response would be to 'search the forum', I am not wanting a highly fragmented list of bugs, fixes and user related faults. I would simply like to see a fairly regular (monthly minimum) post to News, with a brief and not too detailed summary of what BT's focus has been on during the past month, what their current focus is and what the future focus is. Don't expect you to let out any big secrets or impending surprises though! eg. There have been some posts regarding ideas for plugin market layouts, plugin registration, bug tracking and other CP functions but no real response to the broader BT community. ps. I know you guys have plenty on your plate at the moment and don't mean to add to it too much, so just want reiterate - brief and not too detailed! Regards Paul

@Paul, I feel your pain, I brought this issue up weeks ago, and Stobe was able to create the v3.0 bug tracker topic and make it permanent on the forum home page. Because I haven't shared a post on there I won't get any updates I totally forgot about the subscribe button. duh I commend all the first generation BT developers who have secured their place in the plugin market with new and even updated items to sell to the BT newbies. I'd want to make that impulse buy just to try them out. But even however smart I think I am LOL, it still does me no good if I have or others have no clue what in the core has been fixed. If purchasing a 3.0 plugin will or won't work on our self hosted server. It's great that the plugin owners are available to help fix solutions to their own plugins for those of us who purchased. That's why the BT forum is hands down one of the best communities I am apart of. I'm sure BT has their own development plans and timetables, we all do. At this point there seems to be less communication with the leadership team in terms of "Hey we listened, we fixed, here's version 3.01" Well in any case Happy New Year to all. Ed

The only problem with announcements to a development community, members become anxious and create several forum posts about the status of a certain expected item. Like a few people in the past have said that they rely heavily on Buzztouch as a means to an end... One suggestion I could offer is create a BT Road Map and dedicate a team member to act as "sous chef" of the forums when it comes time to announce latest developments, bug tracking, etc. This person can be the mediator (Community Manager) between the community and the BT team. Having a bug tracking software in place like Jira, this "sous chef" can weed out of the proper bugs (after verified reproduction, of course) and write up bugs for plugin developers, BT team plugins, self hosted control panels, etc. Only BT team and plugin developers would have access to the Jira or other bug tracking software so it doesn't become over crowed. Just some food for thought

@WaYsTiiD TIME, that's a great suggestion, if there was a road map (just something basic) not releasing trade secrets or confidential development plans. Just some guidance, even in the blog, something. I guess we are all BT travelers on the same journey but for some, without a map all I see is this fork in the road, should I stay or should I go? If you're in survival mode, a choice has to eventually be made. Good or bad, the worst is just waiting for the unknown, which you have no control over. I wonder if there is an online volunteer application for positions like this.

We had a sous chef for the forums, IanJamesPiano. Life overcame him with much more important things. Hopefully he will return to BuzzTouch soon. It's a good idea to have more sous chefs. One does not need to be nominated as such. Keep on working with and interacting with the folks on the forum. The roadmap is a good idea and a bad idea. A roadmap sets expectations and causes anxiety when things don't appear as desired and at the timeframe one needs it. The roadmap should set a vision and describe the evolution. I will ask David Book about it. -- Niraj
