Update to Mosaic Plugin Short term discount

I have just completed an update for the Mosaic Plugin, the most customisable menu plugin. I am giving a it of a discount for members for a few days. Added ability to just have coloured Mosaic Tiles instead of images. Text Label can be adjusted vertically top, middle, bottom. Text label can be adjusted left, right and centred. When using data URL you can pull down or double tap a Mosaic to refresh. Fixed all deprecations plugin should be warning free. Future updates better gallery features, RSS feed option different sizes mosaics for different devices. All of the updates were recommended by Buzztouch users anymore ideas welcome. There is a 25 minute video tutorial winging it's way to youtube as I type. I will post link when updated. It was meant to have audio but forgot my microphone wasn't on. Will dub in the future

The tutorial is split into 2 it's over 20 minutes Part 1 http://youtu.be/4pE3FVj79rk Part 2 http://youtu.be/HrtPrSp-rhI Points to note Use place holder screens for Mosaic Types - Facebook, Twitter, Gallery etc I use the blank plugin but you can use any type of screen as it will never be seen. Avoid using action plugins such as call us, sms as these aren't screens per se.

The discount won't be permanent as I said in the earlier release post, you could make a full app out of this plugin if you combine it with Scringo. Here's a link to the original video as a reminder. http://youtu.be/9fcjBKWMiZM Mosaic Menu. A Buzztouch plugin that has everything. For starters has basic Buzztouch menu plugin press a button load a screen. Also includes native sharing for facebook, twitter, email, sms. Has an appstore link for linkning to other apps no need to leave yours. Has 3 custom buttons so you can load whatever external frameworks you like for e.g scringo different api screens, add a chartboost ad wall. And last but by no means least this plugin has the ability to be a pretty nifty gallery, watch your images expand to full screen with full sharing options. This is nearly a complete Fan app 1. Gallery 2. Social features 3. Link to Scringo for a quiz and some stickers 4. Add any other great Buzztouch plugins to further build your app, Good to go.

The Mosaic seems to get closer and closer to my goal of creating a lite version of a Flipboard or Zite or EW Must List for BuzzTouch. How close am I to that dream? https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/flipboard-your-social-news/id358801284?mt=8 https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/zite/id419752338?mt=8 https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ews-must-list-from-entertainment/id364294739?mt=8 It would be awesome if the Mosaic plugin can get close to one of those apps. The EW Must List is a Catalog type of app because it allows one to filter the contents by various categories. Go check it out, either you or the wife will love it! Before you groan at the implication of an in-app database, there is another way to skin that cat! Long ago, I had mentioned using NSDictionaries as a lite database. This article explains the simplicity and ease of querying and filtering with Dictionaries: http://www.cimgf.com/2013/02/05/querying-objective-c-data-collections/ Zite and Flipboard are direct competitors because they bring in the latest news in a visual manner. Notice how Zite uses Apple's UIDynamics when sliding to the next page of articles (boxes). The boxes all interlock together via a nice animation. Flipboard confuses me with all their gestures For me, Zite is used every day with the morning breakfast. That's how I end up late to work, because of a great discovery that "needed" immediate investigation for applicability into the Company. :-) Go Kittsy, go! :-) -- Niraj

>>Added ability to just have coloured Mosaic Tiles instead of images. >>Text Label can be adjusted vertically top, middle, bottom. >>Text label can be adjusted left, right and centered. Wow. I have been playing with this control since you pointed it out long ago. I thought I was doing well getting screens to load on the image taps when I forked it- But you've really blown the original repository out of the water with that and some of these other mods. I bet the author would love to see how you managed some of those. I can't wait to explore your code. Have you looked at the possibility of animating individual tiles? I've been envisioning a 'live tile' look for this control since I saw it. I moved over to his newer version using UICollection views and was working out some bugs and looking at animating a collection view there- but I'm moving back to your fork now after seeing those implementations. Just brilliant work and a steal at the discount price. Thanks :)

@Tim -- should we "encourage" Andy to move over to the UICollectionView implementation? :-) -- Niraj

I don't see a need to after all the work he's done with the original control. Kittsys mods to the original MosaicUI are better than either of those repositories now. He powned that control bigtime.

I played with the uicollectionview version and I didn't like it. It wasn't a true mosaic it only to may straight lines either horizontal or vertical. I have plugins with UIColectionview but I don't know enough about the protocol to use it, even though it is very similar to uitableview. It's easy to make amendments, the difficult part is getting it to work with the control panel, and prepare Q & A for users who don't fully understand it

Another way to ask ... Would this plugin benefit from the built-in capabilities of UICollectionView? To me, the plugin is a Collection already. Why not take advantage of Collection-specific features that Apple has provided and will be adding? Not trying to start a debate, just pondering the roadmap for such a terrific plugin :-) And it is Andy's plugin. He can do what he wants with it. -- Niraj

Thanks, Andy, that is good insight. I suspect Developers will get more savvy with UICollectionView by watching WWDC Videos and as more open source projects utilize it. Happy New Year! -- Niraj
