new plugin: Advert Splash

Adapts the standard splash screen by making it clickable to load a URL. Great for showing advertisements on the splash.

Chris...can't say how awesome this is. I mentioned on a forum thread a couple weeks ago that I use splash screens as advertisements for clients...but to be able to load a custom URL, this will be extremely beneficial. Awesome work.

Sold! Hello @chris1 and @Jake Chasan, When you develop menu plugins for BT market, also consider releasing the android version immediately because most of us major on android app development as we have already seen that the mobile future belongs to Google Android. Keep different styles of Menu Screen Plugins coming! Different styles of Menu Screen Plugins make app development truly inspiring, colorful, and beautiful. Now BuzzTouch is Talking and Rocking... Thanks!

"When you develop menu plugins for BT market, also consider releasing the android version immediately because most of us major on android app development as we have already seen that the mobile future belongs to Google Android. " Not sure you would get universal agreement on that, but I do plan to make all my plugins Android compatible at some point. Keep in mind that most people on Buzztouch focus on iOS, and programming tends to be easier on iOS.

@chris1: I agree. The IDE for iOS is much more simplified, and runs a lot faster. But I think there are other reasons. @KennedyE: Some of the things plugins are made out of consist of frameworks built into the operating system. With most of my plugins, this is the case, so creating an android version would be near impossible. I would tend to disagree that "the mobile future belongs to Google Android." I believe that iOS, Android, and Windows Phone will be the 3 major operating systems over the next few years, however, I highly doubt that it will condense into just Android. Android does not offer the same level of precision in design that iOS does. I think that designers tend to lean more toward iOS, and traditional programmers to Android (this may also be because android is coded in Java, a more well known language. Well...these are just my thoughts. @Chris and @KennedyE, do you agree? Jake

The only thing I disagree with you on is the importance of Windows. It's not easy disrupting an established industry, and Microsoft doesn't play the disrupter very well.

"I believe that iOS, Android, and Windows Phone will be the 3 major operating systems over the next few years, however, I highly doubt that it will condense into just Android."- @Jake Chasan. Yes I agree but Android will be the topmost among these three in the future, this is very obvious. "It's not easy disrupting an established industry, and Microsoft doesn't play the disrupter very well."- @chris1. where is Blackberry today? where is Nokia today?... You see, this is not about developers and what they like, its about the Geo end users worldwide, of course, every developer will prefer ios. I am a mobile phone dealer in my country Nigeria, everyone go for android and I am sure this is true for the whole of Africa, Asia, and some part of Europe except the US. If you were to develop a Nigerian app or an African relating app, you would not even consider ios because you gotta put you business (app) where the people are, but if I were to make an app that target the US, then I will consider ios first with little consideration for Android, so you see, its about the end users worldwide.

I agree, Southern Hemisphere tends toward Android. The devices are cheap and plentiful - especially older, 2.2 ones. But so are the apps. It's all dependent on your clientele. In the States, most (many?) people have high end devices, and so it makes sense to develop for them. I doubt that trend will change in the future. Hopefully Google takes some cues from Apple in catering to developers and giving them the tools to make beautiful and awesome apps. But so far they haven't. Android Studio promised to be a step in that direction, but it's been slow to move along. I wonder how much Google is really throwing at that software frankly. It seems to be all third-party developed.

Hmmm... So many wonderful iOS menu plugins in BT market, how I wish Android have the same, dear!

Ya, Android may win the market share game… but not likely to win the profit share game anytime soon. @Chris - is there a way to ‘escape or ‘x’ out of the advert screen’? or is it basically if u see this screen…you’re going where we send you? :) I couldn’t tell form the screenshots

If you press nothing, it fades away as normal. If you click, there's a done button to exit to app

Hey Chris, I don't suppose you could tweak the splash so you can nominate the opening page (ps. haven't actually bought yours yet, but will be! so not sure if this is possible in yours). As with the BT splash as standard, once timed out or tapped, it goes to the nominated home screen in non-tabbed layout or the tab 1 screen in tabbed layouts so is of course only good for starting an app. For extended advert use, if you could use it as an intermediary screen anywhere within the app would be great! ie. tap a menu selection which opens the splash and then opens the actual desired page after timeout. Would probably need to be a completely new plugin for that, because of the way the splash screen works.

Hi All! I decided to buy Chris1 Advert Splash plugging and remove Mr. David Splash Screen that was installed in my app and was working fine. However, when I tried to select the Advert Splash screen is not there. It said, "No Screen to Select from." This is BT Control panel. I really appropriated if somebody can tell me what I am doing wrong. I have done this in the past with Mr. David Splash plugging without problem. However, I can't find the screen when I go to: Themes --> Splash Screen --> Select --> Nothing is there. Thanks, Blue

It's a bug with the control panel. You can manually type in the nickname.

'there is not a place where I can add an URL to make it clickable'... don't worry, I'm sure Chris will fix it soon! (I got the same issue)

You're welcome, Blue!!! @chris1: still buggy now! It seems you forgot to close an anchor in the CP syntax (issue #1) and issue #2: when tapped, URL ok (in app) but useless icon on top right and, when you tap on the 'Done' button on top left, you get a void screen... Cheers!
