Self hosted server setup

Team, I'm a bit new in this field and i already have an idea, i did create free app and it works fine with me but i'm targeting self hosted server. My needs is as below and please advise me with the best self hosted server that i have to pick. 1- Unlimited screens. 2- Over 2 Million views during the month. 3- Only 1 Application will be used on the server. Will be great if you provide me with server details (If there are 3rd Party provider) and other required details that i have to consider. Best Regards, Nasser

Unlimited screens is possible with JSON and a text editor. 2 million views: Perhaps someone with a successful app can provide some days in this. Only one app, not a real issue. Having multiple apps barely a blip on server. Perhaps the type of screens your using will have a factor on server traffic. Fred

Fred, I'm totally fresh in this field, so i will highly appreciate your support in step by step to make this happen. What server party i have to choose ? (Is there recommended parties) What the server specification i require ? I went through the BT-Server but still not really clear on how to install it. Thanks, Nasser

Yeah i have read it but i couldn't conclude strong results on how to make it. Do i need to buy normal host (Exp. GoDaddy or Network solution...etc) If yes, then what the specification i require. Nasser

Fred, Just excuse me for my knowledge level, i will ask lots of question but once i get it on the right way i will be quite :p So i have checked the Rackspace and what i have to choose from below: 1- Cloud Hosting (Cloud Server, Cloud site, Cloud database...etc). 2- If cloud server i will have to choose Linux but which server size to accommodate (1 App with around 2 million views and unlimited screens) ? 3- Which RAM size and bandwidth size ? 4- Is there any additional requirements i have to choose ? Thanks, Nasser

2 million views a month. ambitious! if you are new to web hosting, you might want to think about starting with an account somewhere like OneWorld or Bluehost over Rackspace. Rackspace is great, but it requires some knowledge to build your sever. BlueHost/OneWorld are Linux (Apache) and pre-configured for you. Sign up for a package that has unlimited BANDWIDTH. Bandwidth is what you'll want if you expect a million+ views/calls to your app. Those hosts offer SQL databases which are easy to set-up in a Control Panel and that is what you'll need to set-up your own BT server. But don't start with BT server if you are new to web hosting. Try installing something like JOOMLA or phpBB on it. there are tons of great video and written tutorials for installing those servers on your webhost. there is ONE for BT server. once you get something like Joomla running on your host, you'll understand hosting more and then installing BT server on your host will be easy. you can install lots of 'servers' on your host.

Atrain, Well to be honest, i'm even believe that it will reach more than 2 million if i can have unlimited screens. I checked bluehost and i think it suite my application so i will go with it but i still needs to install BT server. I really don't have experience with installing these services (Joomla or phpBB) so i just needs to make this happen with BT server and i hope i will survive. The think is i need step by step manual to help making this happens. and what killing me that i want to make this so bad but i'm with tight hands regarding the experience. Thanks, Nasser

I moved my self-hosting from Rackspace to Amazon EC2 with the mico plan. It's about $6 a month so far with room to grow whenever I need more. I hired someone off vworker.com who setup Buzztouch on my Amazon ec2 instance. I've had to contact them twice for follow-up service. That cost me $20. I used tearmviewer to let him come on my computer to do the installation. Just my 2cents and an alternate solution.

Hi, The instructions are already on the site. That's where I got them. I simply gave them to a tech guy and he did everything for me.
