Menu with Image eclipse error

Hi all, Just busted out the new eclipse/adt (super simplified version), and I currently am using google 2.2, 8, but have one error: headerImageContainer cannot be resolved or is not a field WB_screen_menuImage.java /BT_activity_root/src/com/mytestapp line 207 Java Problem Only one error in the entire project, so close! Any help would be appreciated from you android guru's. Cheers! David https://buzztouchmods.com

Checking now, thanks Mark. Question - I installed: http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/bundle.html On a clean machine. Did I need to download the Java SDK with this? Cheers, David https://buzztouchmods.com

That's a darn good question! According to the System Requirements on this page, the Java JDK is still required. http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html Mark

Hmm no luck so far, it's the only file with a small error. Too bad the app is completley reliant on that plugin! I tried a "quick fix", however, my fix keeps getting reverted! "[2012-11-18 00:27:26 - BT_activity_root] R.java was modified manually! Reverting to generated version!" Frustrating! David https://buzztouchmods.com

I haven't heard of that error before. Any capital letters in your image name? Are there any iOS only plugins in the app? Android error messages aren't too helpful. Glad to see you in Android! Any ETA you are willing to share on when you will add Android to your plugins?

Susan, I PROMISE you I'll start porting my plugins the minute I can compile ONE simple buzztouch application in eclipse! You have NO IDEA how much I despise eclipse and how much it despises ME! Still trying to fix a multitude of problems including this, mark is helping me a little over gchat #thankgod! Cheers, David https://buzztouchmods.com

If the project can't auto generate the R file correctly it usually means there's some sort of error in the res folder. As @Susan says, check for capital letters, png vs jpg, xml errors etc. Just because you have an R error in a particular java file it doesn't mean the error is actually in that java file. Gotta love android development! The 'Problems' pane in eclipse can help identify a problem pre emulator and the 'Console' pane can help if you try to run the emulator. My usual oversight is having a jpg in the config file and a png of the same name (or vice versa) in the res>drawable folder. And always do a project>clean and android tools>fix project properties at every opportunity!

Did you remove the old BTM Advanced menu files from your project? Those killed me when compiling. Could never get the plug-in working under Android. Removing them helped a lot. I download the fresh source, then remove any/all the non Android supported plug-ins. Both the .java and .xml files. Then I do a refractor/rename and then a fix project properties and that usualy gives me a good base to start. I copy that 'base' and then start hacking away..... (usually come back to it @ 5 times per project. expect to, it's just the nature of the Android beast). We will get you thru this...

yeah android is a pain in the a$$.. try removing the project, download the project from the server again and start fresh. thats what i usually do and it works lol.. also like they said above -- restart eclipse, clean, refactor, fix project properties..

Yippee! Of course you can do Android. We all need you to do Android so you can make us some plugins.

The worst problem is trying to understand why android works like that... especially on a Windows PC. On a mac, I found that by simply installing Eclipse (Juno) first, the IDE asked me which SDK I wanted to download and configure. I was surprised at this. But I agree, installing eclipse and starting to understand it is a nightmare...

I'm having the same issue. Anyone figure out the cause or a workaround besides deleting the header code?

How you downloaded the latest code to make sure any fixes have been included? Also...try a Project > Clean to see if that helps. Mark

I get the same error at line 207 when I have a button menu link to a "menu with image" screen. If I use "menu with image" as my home screen it works fine. Just won't work when it is a "child" of a button menu. Does anyone know if this should work.
