Duane Pahl, Realtor App (Update to v1.1) Approved. Whew!

I am happy to say that Apple approved my 'Duane Pahl, Realtor' update to v1.1 This update provides a new look and feel, thanks to Chris' 'side menu', with a little massaging from me to accomodate an Animated Gif, allowing for an animated home screen. It 'really' makes a positive difference in the look of the app. A simple modification I highly reccommend. I did it mainly to accomodate the MLS (property search) web page changes that rendered the old one useless, as well as small tweaks to make it a little smoother for the user. I also tossed in a neat native '2048' game that is addictive as heck. I may do a plugin for that. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/duane-pahl-realtor/id598503783?mt=8 Thanks to the entire BT community, your encouragement and support always makes things more fun! Cheers! -- Smug Edit: hints on how to animate your menu screen were discussed in this post: https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=8C5DA5CE493031574B680FF I'd never ever (cough cough) encourage downloads of my apps for no good reason, but it *would* be an easy way to see the effect. It's a free app, and you can see how I overcame certain challenges.

The 2048 game sure looks interesting and I like the idea of having a plugin for that too. Keep up the good work!

Great use of buzztouch, I especially like the home page - the menu and images and icons all great together. I hope you don't mind if I point out a couple of small points which you may not have spotted: On the about page the spacing between the words is odd on my iPhone 5. And on the mortgage calculator, the form zooms and gets cropped to the screen edge when doing data entry. Again, iPhone 5. Cheers, Alan

Very cool Smug! Your home screen menu with animation is going to start a trend ;) For the 2048 game, had you thought of adding an info icon upper right, and displaying some tips on how to play?

@Allan: Spacing is due to the page being html using 'justified' text, to keep the left/right margins smooth. It looks better on some devices than others... The calculator as well is an html page. It's a bit odd, and I still need to work on that sort of thing. Fortunately when I figure it out it can be changed via the BT Control panel and an dataURL. @NCBuzz: I might implement those; initally I was just trying to find a decent game to replace that lame 'picture slide puzzle' I previously had in the app, lol! @Ian: Thanks! :) Thanks for the comments and ideas; they'll be put to good use! Cheers! -- Smug

Hi Smug, you have helped me loads in the past and I'm happy to offer a small solution if I may. As the calculator is an html form, then I'm willing to make a small wager that it is a zooming problem and the fix is to do with the viewport meta tag near the top of your html, specifically, minimum-scale and maximum-scale. Set both values to 1.0 and that will fix the problem by preventing zoom. When you pinch and zoom the form, do a before and after, this constrains the minimum and maximum zoom to the same values, which stops zooming. If you do need a little zoom, teak maximum-scale to something like 1.25 or 1.5. As for the font, that parallel margin in documents is one of those effects I have never warmed to, I think the variable character spacing affects readability (for me anyway). The effect worsens as the screen gets smaller and when the number of characters per line is low. I do really like the look of overall app though and I'm keeping it to remind me of some techniques to plagiarise in the future! Cheers, Alan

Do you have any doc on getting the native 2048 game working?

@Ronbo: Is it not working? It's basically a 'slide up and down, side to side' adding numbers, trying to get a single tile up to 2048... But at the moment, no documentation on how it works. I suppose I could add one, but I didn't think it was really that important. I can add something to the eventual plugin though. Cheers! -- Smug

It's working fine! I just wanted to know how you accomplished it within by...did you use an existing plug-in or custom code?

Oh, like always, I stole it, lol! There was some code at Github I nabbed and converted at the last minute. I really really wanted either 'circle the word' or a crossword puzzle, but needed something *that* day, so 2048 ended up being the one. No existing plugin, but I was thinking of putting it together for the market... If I can find a decent android companion. If I do that, then I'll put a few more features in to make it a more 'turnkey' solution. Cheers! -- Smug
