Where to start with PHP and MYSQl

Hey Gang, Need some advice please. Now with some killer plugins on the market like @Chris1's ultimate screen creator, there is a need for me to learn PHP and MYSQL so I can get some real use out of them and make so more productive/utility apps. So my question is where do I start? I need to start at the very beginning and learn how the two interlink etc. All I know is I need to fill a database from info collected in my apps, then query that database to get information to be displayed in both web and mobile app. Would appreciate any suggestions about where to start etc. I need to start learning more and stepping up my understanding of PHP etc, I think I will get more benefit learning PHP than actual coding because of the plugins on the market. Cheers Kristen
