BuzzDay - San Diego Live Stream. I have used UStream in the past to live stream events. http://www.ustream.tv/ Would anyone be interested to live stream BuzzDay - San Diego? This would be great for all the people that are unable to attend.

I'd love a live stream, simply because I can't go!

I hate to say it, but I vote against the live stream. I know it is hard to attend some live events, but sometimes the technology of live streaming can get in the way of the people who are attending. And the sound quality is terrible unless each person is miked, which just isn't feasible. It is just my vote--I don't have any veto power if you all want to try it.

I would want to say the same thing, as Smug elegantly put it, most people don't want to watch a stream of people just talking and eating in a room for hours unless its presentation style - it's going to be very casual, but we'll be sure to include pictures and any new info we learn from each other! Also, the guy who usually gets stuck with being in charge of live streaming misses out on the fun as he has to handle that - everyone should be able to use full attention on new friends :) It's coming up so fast! Already went and bought some snacks and drinks :) David

I do see Susan's argument here. I know from first hand experience that a Google Hangout can destroy a perfectly good meetup (for a few of mine it has). Obviously it benefits the users on the internet, and can watch in, however there is a constant distraction. This is why I now try to keep my Hangouts fairly short for my meetups. What ended up happening is that people didn't turn up for two reason. One, why not just connect to the meet on your camera (two people did this). And two, people didn't see the point to travel long distances to just look at a screen. They want interaction with the real people. I've learnt my lesson and for my meetups now, I will have a strict time to Hangout with online members. As I say above, I would love the idea of streaming, only because I can't go. That's just me being selfish! I only wanted it because I couldn't attend, and just wrote the post in seconds, so didn't have time to think about both sides of the argument. But actually it's probably much better just to record the thing then upload it to YouTube. That's what I did for the Oxford BuzzDay. As it turned out, one of the attendees works for the BBC, and has also been a film editor. He got some great shots, although he also received 9 hours of footage to edit! Anyway, about a month ago, everything was finished and the presentations can be seen at the this link. It's a way to involve the online community without much affecting the real thing. After all, this event are real-person events for a reason. Tomorrow is the day! A small group of admins & members were able to meetup and have dinner tonight, and we're all prepared for tomorrow, super stoked! Can't wait to meet many of you tomorrow. It doesn't start until 9AM but it will probably *really* start around 10 when everyone has arrived safe and sound.
