Apple rejected app due to Notepad not working on iPhone 5 and iPad 3.

I just got rejected from the app store. The rejection notes are: "We found that your app exhibited one or more bugs, when reviewed on the iPhone 5 and the 3rd generation iPad running iOS 6.0.1, on both Wi-Fi and cellular networks, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines. Specifically, the user was unable to write any notes in the app by using your "Notes" feature." I used the Notepad Buzztouch Plugin. I tested this with an AdHoc install on my iPhone 5 before submission and again just now. The Notepad works fine. :- I don't have an iPad 3 to test on, but it works fine on my iPad 1 Did my reviewer not know how to use it? I even include a menu item that goes to a "How to use this app" HTML5 page. Anyone else experience suce a thing? -William

William, I submitted an app that was approved last week that contained the Notepad Plug-in. In Beta testing I found that some testers could not figure out how to add a note. I added instruction in the in the top right corner of the background image and everyone that tested the app were able to add information. The plug in was solid on all of the devices I tested it on from 5.0 to 6.0. Mike

Thanks Mike, I challenged the rejection stating this. As I mentioned above, I had a screen that explained the Notepad feature, but I guess that wasn't enough. It would be great if the Notepad plugin could be delivered with some initial text that gave short, basic instructions. The background image is a great idea! Could you provide a link you your app? Or a screen shot of the Notepad page? I'd like to check out your implementation. Thanks! William

quick question kozmo, did you have advertisements anywhere in the notepad plugin? like a banner at the bottom, a pop up etc.

No, there are no ads in the app at all. No banners, pop-ups, etc. It's also a free app.

Ok, thanks for the detail. Nope, no Revmob in the app. I have thought about trying that, so it's good to know there may be issues. FWIW, I test on a 3GS, iPad 1 and iPhone 5. May have to expand the stable tho, but can't really afford that right now!

I tested it on 3gs, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s and iPad Gen 1, 2 and 3 and the Notepad worked the same on all of the devices. Good luck, Mike

Thanks @0z2000tv, Good to know. I'm going to mark that as the reviewer's issue. I feel it is a solid plugin, and that the plugin itself is not at fault. Hopefully my challenge of the app will resolve this. Thanks!

Hi William, I'm very sorry that you experienced an app rejection while using the Notepad plugin! From the exchange above, I'd have to agree that it was reviewer error or something like that. There are quite a few approved apps with the plugin running, and the great testing referenced above shows that it's pretty solid. If there's anything I can do to help with the review process, please let me know. Thanks to everybody who did some extra testing! It's great data to have! Mark

@ceerup did you manage to solve the revmob bug? I had a similar issue in one of my app containing a cell text: the keyboard appeared but it did not allow the user to write.

Thanks Mark, I appreciate the response. To suggest 2 feature request for the next version (that actually accomplish the same thing): - Provide the ability to pre-enter text on the Notepad screen from the control panel or config file. An initial note of "Tap the 'Edit' button to edit text on this page. Tap 'Done' when finished." would be great. - An Alert Box on 1st launch with the message "Tap the 'Edit' button to edit text on this page. Tap 'Done' when finished." could help in the same way. Maybe a flag in the control panel of the plugin that turns on/off the alert for every launch or just the initial launch. This would eliminate the need for the suggestion above. Thanks for the plugin! It's very useful. - William

No, after App Store rejected it for that reason. I left the free app live without revmob

The Good news! Apple says that they were wrong (or in their words "rejection feedback was not accurate.") about the Notepad and that problem is resolved. Yay! Bad news: Apple found another problem, so it's still rejected. The problem is with opening a PayPal donation screen within the app (as a web screen). This was my mistake as I meant for it to open in Mobile Safari. I'll fix that and hopefully I'll be good to go. Thanks everyone for the feedback here! Best, William
