PDF links

Hi, Would anyone know how to create a PDF file that includes hyperlinks that open on ipad devices? I understand acrobat may do this but it costs a fortune. The usual methods of creating a PDF with links do not work on the ipad. I need this for my iOS app. Many thanks.

Hi LA, There's a really good question. Having spent hours searching for the answer I can say that it's something lots of people experience. It's just down to the software in iPads, I guess. Apparently, there are ways around it but you have to know how, which I don't. Suggestions for a solution would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the help, LA. Yes, they open in Safari if you paste then in, no problem. They are just ordinary http links eg http://www.USA.com It's just that the links disappear from the PDF when it is opened on an iPad. People might suggest using a different reader to open the PDFs but that won't work because my app will just use the built-in PDF reader in iPads.

Thanks. I've read like a gazillion webpages trying to resolve this one. It might not be so easy but someone might have the solution for me. Many thanks for your kind assistance, LA.

Hi Higgey, Are other PDF files not made by you recognizing links?

Hi again, What Software are you using to create PDF files? Have you tried OpenOffice? It's free for Mac. It supposedly does a nice job creating PDF files with clickable links.

I can make the PDFs using avariety of software. The links all work completely fine except on iPads. I've tried creating the PDFs using OpenOffice (my first choice, it's so easy) and also Nitro PDF maker. I'm just experimenting with a trial version of Acrobat.
