When you got your Google Maps API key for Android, did you use the SHA1 fingerprint from your debug keystore to get the API key? If that's the case, you need to get an API key using the SHA1 fingerprint from the RELEASE keystore that you used to sign your final app. They have to match...meaning, whatever keystore you got your fingerprint front to get the API key, that has to be the keystore that you use to sign your app in order for maps to work. Could that be the issue?
