BuzzDay UK - Oxford - 12th October 2013

Hi all, I've got some really exciting news so please do read through all the stuff! As you may have already seen from the top of the forums, BuzzDay is coming to the UK. It's a great opportunity to meet some fantastic Buzztouch users. It's going to be much more exciting than the regular 2-hour Oxford meets! The name tells it all. It's a one-day long Buzztouch event. And it's going to be quite big! I have 7 people confirmed to come along to the event, with hopefully may more coming too. It really doesn't matter who you are and how much experience you have, because this is for everyone! We'll start off the day with an opening presentation and getting to know each other. After that, we'll nip down to one of Oxford's great pubs. If you guys want to, we can spend ten minutes inside an Oxford college if you want. After this, we'll return to our room where we will have troubleshooting sessions and online chats with David Book to finish the day. Once it is all finished, people are welcome to leave, however why not join us for a pint of two! We will have all the English Top 15s coming along, which include myself, Kittsy and Dragon007 being here in person. Of course, we can't forget Dervalo coming from Milan. So here are all the details you need to know. Location: Berlitz Language Centre 131 High Street Oxford OX1 4DH Date and Time: Saturday 12th October 2013 10:30am until 4:30pm (with a pub stop afterwards) There is all the information on the website: http://www.buzztouchoxford.com Please do try to make this meet, because more people means better experience, am I correct? If you know another UK user, please tell them as well. Drop me an email or post below if you're interested. Thomas Boyd Annandale Apps

Looking forward to it! Well done to Thomas for organising the event. I know there’s not going to be enough hours in the day for the ton of stuff I’d love to cover but I know whatever I can glean off you guys will make the trip worthwhile. I would also love to share with you what I’m working on at the moment. Check out this clip I made which should give you an idea. The titles are in Italian but I think you’ll still basically get the drift. See you all very soon! (David via a web link, I believe.. all good with me!). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO8nr646AP8

No web links for me - in person - whoo hoo. Arrive London from San Francisco Friday afternoon. Journey to Oxford. Depart from London back to San Francisco Sunday AM. Quick turn around trip but it's the best I can pull off. I'm certain we can get a ton in Saturday and I'm super stoked to share some insights with the gang, get some long overdue handshakes and hugs in, and learn a bunch from some of our closest colleagues. See ya in two weeks :-)

Hi everyone, There's been a slight change of plan. Instead of using The Hub, we're able to use my dad's classrooms. There was a small insurance issue, but we've got around this problem, which is great. So the Hub is the old location which we will not be holding the event at. It seems that The Hub didn't have enough space, whereas my father does. We'll litterally be round the corner. Berlitz Language Centre 131 High Street Oxford OX1 4DH (opposite Covered Market, above Chequers pub)

Please don't try to scan the QR, as this will disable your PassBook when I scan it... Then all the naughty people might have to sit outside on the naughty step, won't they?

QR code is cool… warm English beer, not so much! ;-) (note to non-English people: the Irish have made a national sport of slagging off English ale!) I trust they serve Guinness at Chequers Thomas. I’ve delayed my return by the way, just to make sure that I have time to try it out - it’s very hard to find a good pint of Guinness in Milan unfortunately.

One of my favorite things about going to the UK is hearing how English is used differently. At the meeting today, there was a mixup over the word "coach". In the US, we would be more likely to say, "bus". In the US, we all know the word, "coach", but we don't expect it to be used for what we call a "bus". On my last trip to the UK, my husband and I started this list: http://www.whitebuffalomobile.com/BT-server/files/applications/EA359BBA670FC032712AF9FDD/documents/British%20vs.%20English.pdf

'Bobbie' is never used. You could say the 'Rozzers' if you were from 1970. But if you say Rozzers, you need a posh Kensington accent to match.

I've just wrote your number on a toilet wall in work. For a good time call.07531 425 517 see how many calls you get and let me know, see if it's worth advertising on it, in the future.

Remind me not to post my telephone number here!!! So, presentation slides done, boarding pass printed out, all the various logistics sorted…so what could possibly be missing? Well, I’ve only gone and lost my voice!! Murphy’s feckin’ law!! I hope it’s back by the morning!!

Dervalo, Guiness is excellent for curing a lost voice. Best drink 4 - 6 of them just to be sure, if I were you. John

You can't beat the Buzztouch forum as the place to get sound advice! Thanks for that @higgey! @kittsy - you've beat me to it. Currently on the Heathrow - Oxford coach, will be there around 11. Free wifi onboard so I can check my AppAnnie report ;-)

It was so much fun! Thank you for organizing us, Thomas! Your video was awesome and when I get home I can link it to the meeting so others can find it.

Nice website, Thomas! That was fast! We all had so much fun. Bob and I just said goodbye to Kittsy, but we are staying in Woodstock for one more night.

I know you're just posting that 20 meters from where I'm posting this! Anyway, good luck to Kittsy for his travels. It was good to catch up with all of you. @Susan, please do pop in at anytime today.

Hi all, I know it's too early to think of Christmas right now, but I'm planning the next Buzztouch meetup which will be the last of the year. There is a shortage of people wanting to attend this one, so I would be good if you could attend too, if possible. So it's the usual drill, I'll tell you what the details are: Location: Berlitz Langauge Centre 131 High Street Oxford OX1 4DH (same as BuzzDay) Date + Time: Thursday 28th November 16:00 - 18:00 (with a pub stop) So I hope to quickly recap over BuzzDay and have a nice social gathering. The more people we get, the less we have to hear about David's new yacht club in London. Hope to see you there, Thomas Boyd Annandale Apps http://www.buzztouchoxford.com

Hi all, I'm sure you know the regular Oxford meetups. If you don't, it is a great way to share knowledge, problems and issues with each other. It's like the forums but extended into reality. I have had tremendous fun over the last year doing this and I hope my attendees have also had fun too. I have learnt tonnes of new knowledge, and I'm not exactly a beginner. Everyone is welcome to attend, and its free of charge. Even the tea and coffee is free! If you're a guest, member, beginner or expert, you are all welcome to come along. Often I have learnt a lot from beginners, because I get fresh ideas. I have organised a meeting on the last Thursday of the month. So here are the next three dates: 30th January 2014 27th February 2014 27th March 2014 16:00 until 18:00 However we do tend to add some extra time with a pub stop after the meeting. I won't confirm dates beyond this, however it gives you plenty of notice for upcoming meetings. Here's the venue location: Berlitz Language Centre 131 High Street Oxford OX1 4DH During the next meetup (Jan), I will be announcing some more information on the big autumn event. I hope to see you attending! Thomas Boyd Buzztouch Oxford organiser http://www.buzztouchoxford.com PS. If you're further north of Oxford, I will be visiting Birmingham and Edinburgh shortly. Anyone want to meet there? However these will be one-off meetings, and not regular.

So it's been decided. I've closed the poll. Here's the details: Saturday 14th June 2014 13:00 - 15:00 (ish) then pub! Berlitz Language Centre 131 High Street Oxford OX1 4DH If you're coming, please do pop me a message or email. All the best, Thomas Boyd UK Meetups Organiser http://www.buzztouchoxford.com
