quiz app deprecated errors and no screen to display.

Newbie here trying get my app to work on my iphone so I can take a look and polish it up. It works in the simulators. I looked in the forums and google and tried some things but cant seem to figure it out. I keep getting about 11-17 of these yellow triangle errors: 'setStatusBarHidden:animated:' is deprecated (declared at /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS4.3.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/Headers/UIApplication.h:271) 'locationServicesEnabled' is deprecated (declared at /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS4.3.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreLocation.framework/Headers/CLLocationManager.h:124) The icon gets on my iphone ok but then when I activate it, it states: no screen to display Any advice is sincerely appreciated.

Just tested yoru app - all good. Soo... sounds like we have a version issue. Assuming you have the latest SDK (your post above indicates that you do), have a look at the build settings. Are you setup to build agaist the 'latest iOS SDK' - maybe not? I can gaurantee that the methods above are not deprecated, they are some of the most commonly used method-calls in iOS ;-) Got build setting issues, that's all. you could also try restarting Xcode, it gets confused sometimes.

Are deprecated errors a big deal? I have a couple that always come up but my app still runs fine and was approved by Apple. I have the latest version of xcode and set my build to latest ios sdk.

the warnings are not a 'big deal' but should not be there. Could it be that your 'target device' also in build settings is 4.3 or something? Set the target devices to 3.0. This could be the errors. As it turns out, 4.3 has deprecated some methods used in older devices and your xcode could be simply warning you of those becuase you have a newer device targeted. Xcode can be setup to warn you about all sorts of things, sometimes it's useful, sometimes not, you should aim to have zero warnings though. a) SDK Version: Latest SDK b) Target device: 3.0 (this will allow app to run on new and old devices)

Wow! This totally fixed my deprecated errors. Setting the Deployment Target to 3.0 in X-Code 4.1 made all my errors go away. Thanks a ton! -Matt
