Android/Eclipse 100+ errors cannot be resolved to a (type)(point)

Ok, so i just did a fresh install of Eclipse Indigo. I downloaded EVERY package that i could under the sdk manager. Now, i downloaded the source code, opened it in eclipse, following the instructions to the T in the videos buzztouch has for installation, and before i can do much of anything, soon as i open the source code, i get these errors (100errors, 103warnings to be exact)... cannot be resolved to a type errors: MapActivity , MapController , MapView , Overlay , OverlayItem The rest are things like, constructor button is undefined the constructor GeoPoint is undefined The method onPause() of type....blah blah You get the general idea i guess. Ive been searching, watching videos, and pulling my hair out (the little i have anyways), for 8 hours trying to figure this out, im bound and determind to get this to work. My O.S. is Ubuntu 11.04 in case u where woundering. Thanks in advance!

You're close. You don't have the Goole Maps libraries installed. Yes, it feels like you have tons of stuff donwloaded and installed to run Android - you do. It's crazy actually how many things they expect a guy to download to compile a darned Android app! Anyway, get the Google Libraries installed on you rmachine...all will be well. Get them here: http://code.google.com/android/add-ons/google-apis/maps-overview.html

Ok, I'll believe you ;-) The map line in the AndroidManifest needs uncommenting too (if you didn't see this in the readme.txt) but that's not going to cause the compiler to complain about not understanding what a map activity is or a map overlay is. It's a simple matter really, the compiler has zero understanding of what these things are. It doesn't understand because... a) The Google Libraries are not installed (you say they are, ok) b) The Android 'SDK' path is not right in the Android SDK and AVD Manager (can't remember what they call this). Maybe prooperties on project or Android properties and see if you can tell it where to find the SDK? For sure, 100% it's the compiler not finding the libraries in your install.

i never read the readme.txt lol, probably part of the problem, there like those instructions that come with your entertainment center! ;) Anyways, ill check more into your suggestions, i always have problems getting eclipse installed properly, maybe i should stop changing my computers OS all the time, i just get tired of the layouts too fast! I'll post any results after i fool around some more!

Ok, so here is something strange for me, when i open the older app, 1.4, there are no errors showing, its only with the newer app, 1.5, i had errors on both, went into propertys, android, changed it to google api 8 instead of android 2.2 it fixed it for 1.4 but not 1.5, ? still not sure what im doing wrong, double checked that i have the maps files, they are in my folder, the manager is also showing the correct file path

OK, makes sense. If one works they should both work. Have you been able to compile the sample Hello World app in the video? Maybe try that and see if you can compile ANY android app before trying to compile your downloaded code. This will ensure that your paths / sdk / etc. are setup and if not it will be less complicated trying to figure out what could be happening.

As it turns out, for some reason i downloaded the wrong sdk!!! I downloaded the correct one this time (linux), and bam, all is well! Thanks for all your imput and quick replies! Finally can get back to work again!
