Two thoughts: 1. Old apps (which have not been compiled in Xcode 5) are running in "Legacy" mode and will function normally because Apple has too many apps to have developers update them all. 2. When apps are compiled (assuming you are using native APIs and SDK) the app will be updated to the new visual styles.
