RSS Images?

Hi All, Is there a way to make the RSS feed screen pull images. I have an image RSS feed? Is there also a way to input a Photo RSS feed into the Image Gallery, and have all of the little thumbnails load? Thanks, Jake

I'm also trying to figure out how to do this. In the feed I'm using there are images, but there is no RSS tag-name for the images. They are displayed under the <description> tag with the article text via <img src> html tags.

As long as there is a defined image element in the RSS, it is possible. You need to define that in the XML Element settings. It may look like media:thumbnail or image or img. All depends on the RSS feed. If you can't figure it out, post your feed URL and I'll give it a look.

@jake Use the following: story: item title: title description: media:credit link: link append value: <enter whatever you like here or leave blank> image: media:thumbnail Also, make sure that you are using http:// and not feed:// within your app. So, use this: http://awelife.com/photo/photo/rss?xn_auth=no

When you look at the source of RSS feed (generally in an XML format), you'll see a bunch of identifiers for the items (stories) and all of the content for each item (description, link, etc.). After you've worked on a few of these, you'll completely see everything needed.

@got fox I have been trying to find the elements on other feeds, and most of them went smooth. When I look at this one for the image (http://awelife.com/video/video/rss?xn_auth=no), I keep thinking that the image keyword is img src=" but it never loads. Do you think you could help? Thanks, Jake Chasan

There is no usable source in that feed for images. The images that are there are contained within the HTML of an element and won't be found by the parser. You need to have a specific entity in the XML that has the link. I'm not certain if Ning has a method of getting that there or not.

@carlos There is no specific item in your feed that has the thumbnail in it. It is part of the content and Buzztouch won't parse through that data to find a thumbnail. I'm not very proficient with Yahoo Pipes, but I believe you should be able to extract the thumbnail in the content and separate it out into the RSS feed as a media:thumbnail. See if this helps? http://www.rarst.net/web/interfacelift-mediarss/

@66geo -- the images in that rss feed is embedded in the description tag... try using description in the media data points or check this solution: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=1BE9B4AC18866E06347B78F
