How to make apps Kindle Fire ready

I have 5 published Android apps that I created using BT and would like to put on the amazon app store and kindle fire. Any suggestions? George

Don't know about Kindle Fire, but I submit to Amazon app store. It's 99 dollars a year though and I still haven't decided if it's worth the outlay (first year is free). Submission is similar to gplay but you need different sized images. fwiw my second most successful app store is the Samsung store, then the getjar store and they're both free.

This could help you: https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire.html Downloading the Kindle Fire Emulator: https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/emulator-guide.html Making sure all of the requirements are set.

Read my BackBerry PlayBook article and my Kindle Fire article. Basically just remove a few offending files. Fred www.MySkylla.com Use the search feature on my site.

@mysps, yeah, that's about at my level. Also, installs are miniscule compared to gplay and the other two stores. It'll pay for itself I guess, but why bother if other stores perform better, and they're free.. That's just my opinion, probably a lot depends on the type of apps and promotion you do etc. I've done nothing except upload the apps.

Thanks everyone for the prompt responses. @Fred@mySkylla com I checked the AndroidManifest.xml and the code at the bottom is already commented out but I have not figured out how to test it on the Kindle emulator in eclipse since the project is set to the target 1.6 Google API and Kindle. My concern is even though my apps do not use Google Maps buzztouch uses it to report usage does anyone know if this would cause the app from being Kindle ready? -George

Fred Where in the code is the map files located or will removing the android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION from the AndroidManifest.xml do the trick? George

Fred, Sorry for my ignorance but I do not see com.google.maps or BT_screen_map.java anywhere in my code. Also I thought when you open a new project using the src code downloaded from BT it automatically sets it to google api 4 if I select android api 4 it will not build the project. -George

The Google API is needed if you have google maps, google this, google that. If you're removing the maps you don't need the google API. Fred

@raveyd .. I can't remember the date amazon renewal. i see on their website it still states that fees are waived and it doesn't say for the first year. im a bit confused. i'm uploading a few apps before Christmas to see how everything goes during the holiday's.. So far I've grossed a whopping 97$.. Its enough to cover the fees but still debating whether its worth it and if the fees are still waived. How is the samsung store doing for you? i've finally just submitted my first app there. Do you know the average approval time for free apps? thanks!

@mysps - no idea! I've been with amazon almost 2 years and haven't paid a penny. The fist year it was 'use for a year' then pay, but during that time they had a new plan with fees waived. I have no clue when to pay! Samsung is good. It usually takes around a week for approval, you can view the status in the control panel. There are a number of steps they go through. It's worth the wait for their reports, they're awesome!
