US Tax ID problems

I just knew this was going to be the worst thing about making apps. I am a UK citizen living in Thailand. I have a UK address and recently (6 weeks ago) sent in an application to the IRS in Texas. Today, via Skype, I managed to find out my application was rejected due to the supporting docs not being verified. I have found 3 "application agents" in the UK and the 1st want 450gdp plus VAT to apply on my behalf plus see my passport in person (i.e. send it to them). Anyone know a simple and inexpensive way of dealing with this issue please?

Do you need a TAX ID for an LLC?

Hi Craig. I need a US Tax ID (ITIN I believe) as Apple won't let anyone submit Apps without one.

Hmm... I am British living in Spain but have a US based non resident LLC in delaware. I have a TAX ID (EIN) for my LLC company which cost me $99 and took about a week. The company I use is delawareinc.com. Been using them for around 8 years and do the job. They might be able to help you.

Actually you may be onto something here - I may have to set up a US company - I will email them and ask what they think. Many thanks.

Hey, but why do you have to send an iRS application in Texas, if you're not from the US? Cheers

That's where the IRS website says to send the application. There is no help in filling out the form and it's incredibly vague about the documentation, and how it should be presented i.e. notorized. You are not informed if they have received the application and have to wait around 6 weeks before you can even call the international helpline to find out what is going on. The helpline (which is Philly) opens at 6am EST and if you don't get in first you will have to wait at least 15 mins for an operator. The call is not free. Bureaucracy - no wonder nothing ever gets done - there should be an App for that!

Hey Miguel Are you are saying that you have submitted Apps to Apple (I also want to submit to Ibooks but that is another story)for them to authorize without a US Tax ID? If so have Apple authorized them? And you have done this as an individual citizen of Portugal and not through an international company?

I've done it as an individual citizen of Portugal, and have some paid apps available in all App Stores world wide, including US. Cheers,
