problems with iAds

When I submitted an update for my app recently I turned on the iAd functionality while waiting for review. Now that it's live on the app store it says my app is receiving live ads. I did NOT include iads in the binary that I submitted since I wanted to see how it looked first. I have since added the capability to multiple screens and updated my apps config.txt file and installed on my device. There are no iAds. Am I missing something? I let it sit for awhile too in case it was just slow, no luck. Josh

Did you register yourself at Apple to use iAds? There is a new contract you must agree to, add banking info etc. See developer.apple.com/iad

And...if you installed the app on your phone you must not have installed in Release mode (Xcode installs are debug mode). you'll only get ads if it's in release mode. Where does it say this: 'Now that it's live on the app store it says my app is receiving live ads'

I registered with apple and signed the contracts. when I go into iTunes connect and click on the iAds link it lists my app an says it's receiving live ads. I did not put my app in release mode... can I do that in my device? just wanted to see how it looked before customers saw it.

Sounds like you have it all worked out and it should work. However, I don't think it will show any ads unless you download it from the app store and install it that way. I don't know this but I think it's the case. a) Delete from your phone b) Load it from the app store, does it show the ads? I bet it does.

Okay, it's working. I just wasn't waiting long enough. Sometimes it takes almost a minute to load the ad! Hope apple speeds things up a bit

Awesome. If you're willing, we'de love to hear how much revenue you earn from your app. Maybe some generlized stats in a week or so? If you're not comfy sharing this info with the community, email whatever you can to info 'at' buzztouch.com We get lots of questions about how much iAd pays but don't have enough actual data to answer with any intelligence - you can help.

The problem is they do not always have enough ads to serve to all requesting apps, that's why your users will sometimes see no ad... So called ad mediation layer like AdWhirl or MobClix can help by showing an ad from another ad provider like AdMob, MobFox or any other in case there is no iAd available.

But that's just it, my live app doesn't have iAds yet, just the one on my device. So all I'm getting is test ads. You would think with test ads there wouldn't be any delay whatsoever, yet sometimes it takes a couple minutes... and other times it doesn't load at all. Looking forward to the admob and mobfox functionality so my users will hopefully see something.

bit new to the apple/xcode/mac side of things - does the iAds have to be setup at the coding stage? or is it just turned 'on' from the Apple dev console? (currently using 3rd party to compile and upload to appstore)

Go to the advanced properties for each screen you would like to have ads, go to the advertising options, and choose yes. Right now the only option is iAds but other services will be available later. That's all you need to do on your end. Then download your app and submit to itunes. After you upload the binary go into the iAd section of iTunes connect and turn ads on for that app. You can only do this when the app is in an editable state. Then you're all set!

Is there a way to set ads up on every single screen in Buzztouch? I have about 40 different screens so it would take a while to enable each individual one. Also has anyone figured out a way to do it in xCode after you download the source code? It seems like that might be a better place to do it, once you are ready to upload it. Thanks for any help.

Also I'm testing it out on the homepage on it's own in the simulator and the ads only show up once in a while as opposed to every page view. Kinda seems like that would kill revenue..
