I have gone back into Buzztouch and added < a href=tel:012-345-6789>012-345-6789</a > but no effect

When I add a phone number on an html/text screen it automatically becomes a link. On the iPhone simulator it opens a window prompting a call. I suppose due to the limitations of the simulator it doesn't bring up the actual screen to make a call. Haven't tested on an actual device yet.

Or... sometimes iOS gets pissed at the format of the number. You could try formatting the number a few different ways, like (434)990-3333 or 999-343-4345 etc. And, be sure the advanced setting on the html screen, in the Document Behavior section, have 'detect phone numbers and addresses' set to yes.

By default, doesn't Buzztouch create the appropriate code that recognizes a number string so that when I tap it, it executes the dialer screen with the number so that all I have to do is click Call? If so, it is not working for me. I have tried this on both my HTC droid and my ASUS Transformer, both have the same effect of going to the HTML error screen.

The project (buzztouch) doesn't modify your HTML. That's kind of the whole point, you get to control it. Android handles different links in different ways, I too would think that a number would launch the dialer. If it's not launching the dialer, the solution will depend on a few things, mostly what buzztouch version you're using. The version will determine what .java file will need to be adjusted to allow this (or at least to figure out what's happening)

I am using v1.4, do I have to set something in the HTMl to have it do a function call?

If you're device isn't triggering the dialer on Android see this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2774243/can-i-make-a-phone-call-from-html-on-android If that does not work you'll need to modify the .java source in Screen_CustomURL.java or Screen_CustomHTML.java (depending on which one you're using). Can't advise on what adjustment is needed without having your html and your app.

@David I'm using 1.4 and building for android. I'm having the same issue with phone numbers not being recognized (or addresses either) I have checked the forum for solutions and there are other people with the same issue but no solutions. I have also checked the stackoverflow post that you suggested, tried all of the formats and nothing works. I thought i had seen a post about nativeintent but could not find it. I have looked at the Screen_CustomHTML.java but, have no clue what I'm looking at. Any Suggestions?

I wanted to bump this post as this is where i've hit the wall on my 1.4 APP on Android as well. David has been helping me in another thread adding some code to the Screen_CustomHTML.java I'm close. It seems like this would be a pretty common issue with anyone using custom HTML in their app. We kinda expect text to be dynamic on web pages in this touch screen era. Has this been addressed in ver 1.5? I'm ready to move up, but it would be nice to see this work in my 1.4 app.
