Facebook, Twitter and YouTube freezing, blank and confused.

Hi, I've a few problems with social networks. All are on Custom URL pages with links to the respective page/account/profile rather than an RSS feed etc. I'm using BT hosted v.2.00, the app was compiled in Android 2.2 & I'm trying it on an HTC Desire, which is 2.2 too. Facebook: page displays but gets stuck loading with the little swirly loading wheel thingy in the middle, freezing the whole app. Can't go back, no menu pops up, I have to go in to apps, clear data and open again. Twitter: appears to be loading but just goes to a blank white page. YouTube: message pops up saying, 'Error loading screen? The application had trouble understanding what to display.' On all three the tabs disappear too and stay disappeared when I click 'Home' (top right button.). I've got 'News' and 'Events' pages, also on Custom URL screens, which both work fine bringing up a Wordpress mobile view of their respective pages with the tabs intact. Are these common problems? Should I be using a different type of screen? I'm perplexed! I would go plug-in hunting but don't have the facilities to shift to a self hosting at the moment.

"the app was compiled in Android 2.2" I trust you mean google 2.2 The Wheel of Death is a common problem. Read about it on my online guide, MySkylla'a Guide to Buzztouch www.MySkylla.com Fred

Fred, that worked. Smashing. I also found out how to edit the Java. Line numbers in the editor would be handy though! Anyway, one down, two to go. The Twitter page is still blank and the YouTube page is still confused.

Aye, that's what I've ended up doing as a stop-gap. The magically disappearing tab bar has led me to end up with two Home/Menu screens, one for the actual home screen with tabs and one menu screen on a 'Home' button for when the tabs have vanished. Not ideal but at least it works. I am perplexed by the Twitter page, mainly because I've got other URL pages which work fine. It has to be said, even with the little problems I've got BuzzTouch is still head and shoulders above the WordPress plug-ins I was using before!

Aha! I have to question the logic behind having tabs on the home page but not anywhere else. It feels a tad inconsistent. Still, at least I now know why they weren't working. Cheers. Does anybody know what's likely to be up with the Twitter screen?

Frank, do you mean making every screen an HTML screen? If so that might be something I'll look at in the future but for now having a right button home tab to a non-tabbed menu/home page is working. My bigger concern at the minute is the Twitter page. I'd really like to get it embedded in the app rather than having to open a separate browser/app but it just ain't playing fair. If you or anybody else has any ideas I'd welcome them! Frank, thanks for your help so far, you've been a diamond.

I already did and found lots of posts which didn't really say what the problem was in the title.

Fred, I appreciate your help so far but it's starting to seem like you're using these forums to drive traffic to your own site.

Sorry Fred, I made the mistake of logging on after a bit too much to drink. I was out of order.

And now I feel like even more of a complete numptie: I'd missed out the .com in the YouTube URL. Oops! Just the Twitter causing an issue now. I've ended up using a widget. Looks like a lot of folk are having the same problem.
