App icon not showing up - black square

Hi everyone, I'm new to buzztouch and app development so there may be something I'm doing wrong but here's my issue. I've finished my first app (using Xcode) and wanted to test it on my iphone using my apple developer account as it's almost ready for the app store. Once I got it loaded on my iPhone the app icon that I had didn't show up and instead it turned into a black square. When I use the simulator in Xcode it works fine. I found a forum suggesting to replace image icon_144 icon_114 icon_57 and icon_72 in BT_Art with my icon but that still did not fix the issue. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks for your suggestions, Ewa

Disregard.....just got it working. In the Manage Icon tab if I use the exact 72x72 pixels image the icon shows up, but if I use anything bigger it doesn't seem to work even though there's an option to crop it to the right size....odd.

Hi PolskaPolka! What browser are you using? I have had some trouble with Firefox resizing the app icon images and that could be your problem.

Truth be told, you're going to want to replace most of those icons anyway… They seem to get autogenerated via BT, and they look awful, lol! Go back and take a look at them, to ensure the appearance is ok for you. http://appicontemplate.com is a good template to use for app icon generation. Cheers! -- Smug

Hi CakeBit., I'm using Safari but never though of the issue being linked to the type of browser. If I have the problem again I'll test it out using a different browser, but uploading the exact 72x72 icon seemed to do the trick. Thanks SmugWimp, this is a very useful site. Going to save me some time in the future.

@SmugWimp, The reason the icons look awful is because Buzztouch resizes the image after you click save to a square 72x72 image. When you compile your apps Buzztouch is like "Dude I need 152x152 icon (and a bunch of other sizes)" so it stretches and resizes your icon to all the app icon sizes and they look really bad :). I have fixed this on my self hosted... it's actually really easy and it makes me happy everytime I compile an app.
