In August of 2012 I joined Buzztouch with some basic JavaScript knowledge but not much else. Since then it has been a wild ride, learning more about app development and programming than I ever could have imagined! With over 40 plugins in the market and having served as the primary or sole developer on more than 30 apps, I have finally made the jump to a full-time career change into IT. I will now be working full-time as a Mobile Software Developer at Museum of the Bible (http://www.museumofthebible.org). I can't thank Buzztouch and this community enough. David Book has been an incredible support in my learning path, as have been a few others in this community. We'll see what the job brings - so far I know it will be more Android centric than iOS centric - but from what I know I consider something of a dream job! So, truly from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you Buzztouch!

Well done Chris - that is a remarkable rise from knowing a bit of Javascript. Could you share with us your most valuable tip for improving your ability/knowledge?

Hmm - perseverance. I've committed almost every evening/night of the last 3 years to learning/writing code. Probably averaged 15-20 hours a week on this stuff. It takes an incredibly supportive wife, and a passion to learn more and more every day. I don't say that to be discouraging- only to say programming is hard enough that it must become your passion if you're going to make it your career.

That shows great commitment Chris. Commitment and perseverance are requirements to do well in most fields.
