Version 3.0

I have a quick question. If I want to submit my app to Apple, should I leave the deployment target to 3.0 or does it not make a difference?

You can do that, but make sure you have a armv6 architecture set for that low of a target (as I'll assume xcode will tell you that anyways). Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

Xcode does not say anything to that. Should I still make a change to the armv6. If so, how?

1. In Xcode navigate to Build Settings and find Architectures group (it’s on the top, so hard to miss). Add armv6 to Architectures line. It should contain armv6, armv7 or Standard (armv6 armv7) (so hit the + button, type "armv6" hit enter) 2. Set Base SDK to Latest iOS (currently set to iOS …) 3. Uncheck Build Active Architecture Only or set it to NO. 4. Valid Architectures must show armv6 armv7 When your project uses your own dependent libraries, build them with the same (correct) configuration. David buzztouchmods.com

This is what I see in the Architectures group: http://www.buzztouch.com/applications042612/JA9BE9376AF91E35914816287/images/None.png How do I change the architectures line? This is what happens when I click on it: http://www.buzztouch.com/applications042612/JA9BE9376AF91E35914816287/images/Selection.png I am not sure how to change the architectures line. Thanks for the help, Munny1

Also, what do you mean by: 4. Valid Architectures must show armv6 armv7 When your project uses your own dependent libraries, build them with the same (correct) configuration.

Your screenshot looks perfect! 4. don't worry about that part, I'm certain you haven't coded anything custom. David buzztouchmods.com

Like all of us you want to have your apps available to as many folk as possible. People on 3G iPhone can't go above 4.1 (I think) and anyone I know that has upgraded from 3.x on a 3G has serious lag issues. Believe it or not there are still many folk running 3.x so do as David says, drop in your armv6 and you'll reach more people.

Oh and by the way, MacApple, I don't know about 3G but I know the 3GS runs iOS 5.1

I hear you but I'm sure the 3GS has a 50% faster processor than the 3G.

Very true, one of the main reasons they update the iPhone: the processor. Cheers, Munny1

@MacApple it definitively does! I still don't ever feel the need to buy the "S" versions, I waited for the 4 with my 3, and I'm waiting for the 5 with my 4 now. David buzztouchmods.com

Sadly I'm one the muppets that hit Apple store on release day.
