Tabbed Layout Icons

[ First Question/Post! ] I am new to buzztouch but I like what I see. I have created an application in v2.0 and the results (Eclipse or Xcode) are not what I expect based on my Tabbed Layout entries. I have included Icons for each screen but there are no icons at the bottom of my home screen on the navigation bar. I have added the .png files in the File Manager, put them in the BT_Images folder and dragged that folder (this is verified because my splash page works) into my Xcode project. Is there another step? Pat (2-day old buzztouch "programmer")

Hi Pat, Welcome to buzztouch! Adding the png file to File Manager doesn't really do anything with respect to how the app operates. It's literally just another place to keep the media that is used for your app..basically, a backup of those files. The rest of the procedure you described sounds right on. When you run your app in the iPhone simulator, are there any errors showing up in the Console? Also...sometimes doing a Product...Clean seems to help sort out general weirdness. Also, like Fred sorta mentioned...in the control panel for your app, in the Tabbed Layout page, did you indicate the icon filenames for the tabs? Mark

Thanks for the replies guys. @Fred, Yes tabs not NavBar. Sorry. @Mark, Yes I indicated the icon filenames on the Tabbed Layout page. I just did a Clean (several actually). And, I deleted the screen, re-created it as Non-tabbed (confirmed the change), then changed it back to Tabbed with the icon filenames specified and all I get is the labels, no icons.

Is it in both iOS and Android that they are not showing up? Mark

Yes, both are affected. Here is the configuration data the deals with tabs: "BT_tabs":[ {"itemId":"7542E8156C3EA95590810E6", "itemType":"BT_tab", "textLabel":"h" , "iconName":"IC_home.png", "soundEffectFileName":"", "homeScreenItemId":"968F0960230B218EAFE2A02"}, {"itemId":"780A6B1FDD7793109A80AE4", "itemType":"BT_tab", "textLabel":"c" , "iconName":"IC_create.png", "soundEffectFileName":"", "homeScreenItemId":"56923F9615D51ED0175E668"}, {"itemId":"39C9967FB953A7C2BF981AC", "itemType":"BT_tab", "textLabel":"HELP" , "iconName":"blank.png", "soundEffectFileName":"", "homeScreenItemId":"02DEFE7D859B3EA0438B86D"}, {"itemId":"B6ED4EB1C8DA014E22ADAE6", "itemType":"BT_tab", "textLabel":"b" , "iconName":"IC_board.png", "soundEffectFileName":"", "homeScreenItemId":"DA49119B905450AFD5E8BED"}, {"itemId":"54F218C222B134802E28C4C", "itemType":"BT_tab", "textLabel":"s" , "iconName":"IC_sheet.png", "soundEffectFileName":"", "homeScreenItemId":"92D3E4EC5AE40571E077E62"}

Well, one issue might be that for Android, you have to use all lower-case letters, and I've found that having a - or _ doesn't work very well either. Check out this statement from the v2.0 Readme that comes with your download package: "ECLIPSE ONLY ALLOWS LOWER CASE LETTERS IN IMAGE NAMES. This means the image you add to the /res/drawable directory must have lower-case file names. This also means that all the images named in your control panel must also have lower case file names." I'd start by fixing that, and going from there. If you want to use the same project for both iOS and Android, you'll need to fix the files in both Xcode and Eclipse. Mark

In BTv2.0 the _ is allowed in the res > drawable folder (Android) where you place BTv2.0 image. The - is not. The - can be used in the assets folder, which is why BTv1.5 images with a - are allowed, but best not used. http://wp.me/p1ZRa7-oi Fred

I am not sure if the icons on the tabs work for you or not. I am having the same issue: no icon displayed for each tab.

Ah i hate to revive an old thread, but i thought this may be an appt thread to place this in. My tab bar on the bottom isn't displaying icons how i think it should. The icons display as grayed out (All of them), and a few display as square shaped trays and not my icon(most). any ideas what I'm doing wrong? And is it possible to display them in colour? Thanks, Jeremy
