Hi all, This is an interesting tale and quite coincidental after I brought up the topic of plagiarism. I had an app approved just over a week ago. Its been kicking it on the app store, over 200 paid sales yesterday. Its basically a wallpaper app but its the making it specific to whatsapp chat that has proved the marketing whizz. Now, I knew I had a limited time for the app to run before the leaches came out so I was prepared for that and now, with a free version on the store mine has started to dwindle - although not as rapidly as i'd feared. Like I say, I expected a few copies, maybe even more than that but check this.... Not only did someone copy it, they near as dam it copied the name, they copied my screenshots and worse still, they cut and pasted my metadata... to the point that their app says it is owned and created by me!! If thats the case am I entitled to their revenue?? Naturally I have filed a legal representation to Apple. I hope they kick this kind of lazy arsed good for nothing developer from the Apple program. Getting ideas is one thing. This is just something else! Also, can their app seriously have exactly the same content as mine and should this not have been picked up in review?? Man, I feel for you. They are so similar that it is just ridiculous... Beside their screenshots hurt my eyes and gave me a headache. :) Keep us informed! Farcat

@farcat Check out their disclaimer, apparently I own their app! Haha!! @rav Never used to happen when I first developed on the app store. You used to think of an idea, check the store and if you saw it thought, bugger, beaten to it - lets get another idea!

Wow ! I have never seen plagiarism as obvious as this. And to charge for it? Criminal.

Reminds me of middle school, was a kid in class that copied his friends test answers-including his name at the top, teacher was very curious as to why he would turn in 2 tests. Good luck, hopefully they pull his account, but thats lost money for them so doubt they do it.

They even used the same layout and text overlay for screenshots. This is wrong. Tell Apple, they probably will side with you. Jake

I had a similar story not with apps but with my copywriting texts a year ago ... I worked together with my wife for 3 weeks without a break, not leaving the house at all, then uploaded to the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and guess what... everybody else copied my work and laughed... nobody invested their time into developing something themselves. I thought this is only in my country. Have them removed from development. Play hard ball. Wish you luck! Frogman

I see that the guy's app is still there, with a new 1.2 version. Any news from Apple?

All they did was send the developer a property rights complaint notice with a copy of my email :/

What is that / what does that do?

No action required from him? No deadline "or-else"? Surely the guy has things to prove to Apple now?

Just said complain received and told them to change or remove from sale if he had infringed my rights. I could always go back to them but I'm not sure it's worth it.
