Let me know how you find it. I had problems getting it working, and went back to Eclipse.

I'll have a wee play over weekend, don't see myself using it right away, not until it has been updated anyway.

@MacApple - that was my thought too - once it gets updated for all their promises, I'll try it again. Could be very different.

Right Chris1. Don't want to start off frustrated with something I'm excited about.

No joke. I'm really hoping the update is a big overhaul. The way it looks now, it just seems like a more complicated version of Eclipse, which is going in the wrong direction in my opinion.

I spent some time on it as well, and have not walked away with a good taste. Eclipse seems easier, and seemed that way from the start. But, it could be because I'm experienced at Eclipse, which doesn't seem all that hard to me. Overall, I suspect Android Studio to be more powerful (because it's Android focused), but in the meantime, I'll probably stick with Eclipse. Mark

Its supposed to be an extension of Jetbrains, Intellij community edition. http://blog.jetbrains.com/blog/2013/05/15/intellij-idea-is-the-base-for-android-studio-the-new-ide-for-android-developers/ The Jetbrains site should have enough info to get started. Also wondering if the good stuff is locked away in the Ultimate edition. Wishing I had taken better advantage of the Cinco de Mayo sale.

I have installed and tried Android Studio a bit. Then I walked away as it is nowhere near finished. I don't like Eclipse at all, but I have mastered it and now any new IDE ought to be superior by the orders of magnitude in order for me to switch over. I doubt that the change of IDE for Android developemnt is very important for us here at BuzzTouch, because we are not developing programs from scratch. We just use Eclipse to finish the work started within BuzzTouch.

True - unless you're developing plugins for Buzztouch. Frankly all I want is a faster, more responsive emulator and an autocomplete/error-handling system more like XCode. Maybe a better XML creator too.
