Creating a native iOS app for my Buddypress site

Hi I have a buddypress site set up (which is WordPress with plugins for a social network for those of you that don't know). What I want to do is create an app, much like facebook that integrates the network with my phone. It has a very elegant mobile site which I can use as a bookmark, but I want to stay logged in and have a native app for my users. Is there a way I can do this? Just saying, not competing with Facebook, Twitter etc, its a company social network! Thanks Ed

have you tried the blog pro plugin? https://www.buzztouch.com/plugins/plugin.php?pid=EF1AA98408AA4E656C3F7BD then go to Danny's site to get the wordpress script. http://www.bt-addons.com/

Hi Thanks for the quick reply, but not quite what I was looking for. I have added the mobile site to the home screen, and below are screenshots of kind-of what I am trying to achieve (they are of the mobile site.) It just keeps logging me out so it would be nice to have a native app. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8m0j1ig98twylvx/photo%201.png https://www.dropbox.com/s/ufkfoepqjf50i96/photo%202.png Thanks Ed

ok i see. You could hire some of the plugin developers to do it for you or request a plugin for that. Really all of the iOS plugin developers.PSMDanny, Kittsy, Chris1,SmugWimp,nadthevlad,ATrain53,Mackimack,etc.Even those that arent plugin developers may have some kind of solution.Looks nice!

On the Buddypress server, I would simply change the logout time to "never". Hack it up if need be. -- Niraj

After thinking about it a lot last night, is there any way I can put a menu in the app with the 3 horizontal lines (you know, like facebook)? And can you have a login screen that posts to the website and stores the creds? I've installed a JSON plugin so now it can handle JSON requests, the only problem is how do I get it all to work? I basically want to duplicate something like the FB app or similar for my network. Thanks Ed

I should have said ... From the screenshots, the BuddyPress server seems to nicely mobilize the screens. As such, I think it's a simple two-step app: 1. Modify cookie timeout to "never : forever : far into the future" 2. Make a traditional app with only one screen by using the Custom URL plugin. 3. One more thing -- as you mature in usage of the app, a Tabbar might be useful. -- Niraj

Hi Niraj Thanks for the advice. Is there a plugin that creates the side menu like Facebook (the 3 horizontal lines) on the left? Thanks Ed

Since the BuddyPress server already generates a mobile view with that side menu (as shown in your screenshots), is there a need for a sidemenu plugin?
