Hi @Iaa23, Did you read the documents I have listed above? They're literally step-by-step instructions. If you still can't get it after that (assuming you actually tried to make it work), please post SPECIFIC questions you have, and we can help you. Mark

Thanks GoNorthWest. I did but couldn'tget past stage 1. I believe I downloaded the correct Eclipse but cannot open it to continue. Very frustrated. It took me a long time on the app itself and now cannot move forward. :(

Eclipse.exe is the file for Windows. There should be an Eclipse app for Mac. It's all in the document. Mark

Hi Iaa23, I'm curious on what you're getting stuck on. Both Fred and I have provided step-by-step instructions that have helped many people get going. If you can be very specific about the problems you are having...Windows vs Mac, Eclipse, etc...then we can help. Please also realize this is not a Buzztouch problem, but a general Android issue. Thanks, Mark

I downloaded Eclipse then the next step is to open it. There is nothing to open. I am working on Windows. I didn't say it was a Buzztouch problem, however it is not easy or user friendly. All of these links take you to pages in which we are to download programs but each page has like a million things to download and who knows which one to pick?

The first page of this document literally gives you the links for the files, as well as the exact filenames you should have when you download : http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Setting_Up_Your_Android_Development_Environment_v1.2.pdf Can't get much simpler than that, I'm afraid! Mark

I understand the problem. You're having difficulty primerly because too much terminology is thrown at you too quickly. My suggestion is read the documentation, take a break, and try again.

Guys I have followed all documents as written.... I am 99% there. However, when it comes to importing my project into Eclipse, I am getting the following 3 red error messages. 1) The Project was not built since its build path is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for java.lang.Object. Fix the build path then try building this project 2) The type java.lang.Object cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required.class 3) Unable to resolve target 'Google Inc.:Google APIs:8' HELP Please - getting tired but know I must be close now ;)

Hi guys, I fathomed out quite a few problems by trial and error last night. However, I have no errors now but when I try to run my project in Eclipse, i get the following Android AVD Error message.....No compatible targets were found. Do you wish to add a new Android Virtual Device. I did a bit of reading on google and it says that it may be a problem because I installed Android SDK into my Program Files folder and not in the route of C:\ (problem due to the space between the words Program and File) Before I uninstall and reinstall Android SDK is there an alternative solution?

Fred I am newbie with little dev capabilities, have never used any of these applications before so apologies so saying... Try Eclipse >Window >>SDK and AVD Manager >>> Doesnt really help me buddy - I am happy to have a go at building environment, but I would be grateful for a little more info. Basically I have an Emulator running (5554:DavesAVD) in Eclipse, I have manually updated my Project in Eclipse (following a few changes made in BT), I have refeshed my Project etc etc in Eclipse and get the following in console panel:- [2012-01-21 15:39:39 - ProfitnDrive] ------------------------------ [2012-01-21 15:39:39 - ProfitnDrive] Android Launch! [2012-01-21 15:39:39 - ProfitnDrive] adb is running normally. [2012-01-21 15:39:39 - ProfitnDrive] Performing com.profitndrive.BT_activity_root activity launch [2012-01-21 15:39:39 - ProfitnDrive] Automatic Target Mode: using existing emulator 'emulator-5554' running compatible AVD 'DavesAVD' [2012-01-21 15:39:39 - ProfitnDrive] Uploading ProfitnDrive.apk onto device 'emulator-5554' [2012-01-21 15:40:29 - ProfitnDrive] Installing ProfitnDrive.apk... [2012-01-21 15:41:08 - ProfitnDrive] Success! [2012-01-21 15:41:09 - ProfitnDrive] Starting activity com.profitndrive.BT_activity_root on device emulator-5554 I have no idea if this means that the AVD should reflect my changes but the AVD is still showing as a blank Android screen.

Hi @dkeds66, I'd first try rebooting...perhaps there is a memory leak somewhere that is taking up space dedicated to your AVD...no idea though. Sometimes your virtual device will take a long, long, long time to come up, only to fail to load your app. That's all on Eclipse and Android SDK...nothing to do with buzztouch. I just shut down Eclipse and try again. I find that things tend to load better and faster with a smaller (like 20MB) SD card defined in the emulator. Mark

@laa23, What step are you at? Still can't get Eclipse to start? Totally agree that setting up this environment is a major pain. You are not required to use Eclipse as your dev environment...so, if you can find another one that runs the Android SDK, you're more then welcome to go that route. But most people use Eclipse. Mark
