East coast meet up - week of November 10th

Hi all, As I am in NYC the week of 10th November, I would love to take the opportunity to meet up with any Buzztouch folk. @Feraco has already said he should be around that week. Possible meet up times could be: Sunday afternoon, Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, any time Thursday and Friday up until mid afternoon. Let us know if you’re available! Derval

Ok so, if we want to pin down a day it's looking like Tuesday after 5.30. Does that work for everyone else? Can somebody suggest a venue? Somewhere we can have a drink and possibly a meal later. In terms of agenda, I'd say we keep it informal. What do you think? @stobe - as the BT admin, did you have any thoughts on an agenda? Thanks for the great response all! You're right @feraco, at this rate we'll be needing our own banner!! Derval

Table for six? Lets blow this thing up. I'm considering making this but need to be sure a 3000 mile trip is justifyable. It's not easy making these trips ($). All kidding aside, traveling to NYC to see some of my closest friends would be awesome. But, it would be so much MORE FUN if we had a dozen or so - right? Challenge: If somebody comes up with a venue (lights, tables / chairs / WiFi) that holds 12 or so, I'll put a link to this post on the forum landing page so it gets some more eyeballs. As soon as I hit publish, I'll jump on a travel site a grab a plane ticket with my allowance. Bonus: If we can get a dozen or so folks to commit, and a place to hangout, I'll show you some secrets we're planning that you will definitely want to see before the rest of the gang. Every head start is a good headstart - right? Get me to NYC on Nov. 12th! d.

Can you please provide us with the location details so we can put it up on the forum landing page? We can put this up along with the date and time: Tuesday 12th November, 5:30/6pm Now we just need to get more people to make David’s trip really worth his while!!

Ok just updating you all on the venue. There places all over that charge an arm and a leg. However We may have a few options. A conference room or a restaurant with a private that we can set up a projector. If we go to the restaurant then everyone needs to eat something. Ill update you guys by the end of today to see which venue gives best deal.

I'm guessing it's too late to request this for a weekend...if it were to be held on a Saturday or Sunday, I'm sure you would get more head counts. It's hard for people who have full time jobs to take off. Wish I could make it.

Ok New Yorkers, here's how you can help me out... I need the name of the best Bagel joint, a good coffee shop (good meaning good coffee and good atmosphere), (if there's a place that has Cuban coffee, even better), and maybe a good bakery. We have a place here in Virginia that actually imports water from NYC to make bagels, so I know what a good bagel tastes like. (Badda Bing Bagels, lol - the best asian-owned, NY Style bagels in all of Virginia) I think Fred is in charge of finding me some good Pizza (I've been to Grimaldi's - Is Lombardi's supposed to be good, too?) I know your next question is "what part of town". I'll be arriving near China Town, and will probably eat my way up towards Midtown to visit the Apple shrine (Store). I may be in a food-induced coma by the time the Meetup starts, but don't worry - I'm an expert. I recover quickly. Thanks for any recommendations. Counting the days. -Chris

Chris this is important stuff! Coffee- Grey Dog, Kava Coffee, Prodigy Coffee, La Colombe Torrefaction, City Bakery Pizza- There are so many good places! Zaget review says Montorino has the best pizza! It all depends on what you like. Do you like thin crust, thick crust, grandma, grandpa, sicilian, bar pie, meat pie. Let me know your style and ill bring it to the meetup. Bagels- On the island there are bagel bosses everywhere. Great bagels! Go on your journey and send me a text using smugs gps plugin so I can find you as soon as im out of work. I would be curious to other peeps suggestions too. please share your knowledge lets make sure the BT admin has a good time here!

Hey Chris - I knew the East River & Hudson were capable of many things. It shouldn't surprise me that it is imported to VA - but it does. I say bring a few jugs, let's fill those puppies up, ship 'em back & charge a premium. My 2cents on food: Unfortunately, my favorite pizza joint closed earlier this year - Maffei's (22nd & 6th)... a crazy rent increase tends to hustle good folks out fast. However, as Feraco mentioned - many fine places. If you haven't tried a 'Grandma' slice, I would highly recommend that. I'm sure you'll be able to come across a good one. Word to the wise, there are many 'Original' Rays Pizza. But, the Original one is long gone. As you're arrive in Chinatown, if you're in the mood - swing by Joe's Shanghai & grab some 'soup dumplings.' it's worth the trip to 9 Pell St (between Doyers St & Bowery). On your way, you won't have to look too far for a bamboo plant for your desk, an elephant trinket made of jade & the opportunity to outfit yourself like bruce lee in 'enter the dragon.' By all means - do all three. On the bakery side, you'll be close enough to little Italy; walk down mulberry street & grab a cannoli. They're pretty tasty. Should you happen to find yourself uptown, and need a bagel, H&H is pretty good, 2nd Ave (between 80th St & 81st St). They had a showdown with H&H on the Westside a few years back. Some people say the Westside location, now closed, was much better. I beg to differ. I believe the bagel place closest to me, at that given moment, when I want a bagel, is the best. No matter what - you'll have plenty of choices of provisions. Really can't wait to meet you & all the bt peeps in a few days! - Matt

Fantastic group. Fantastic place. Fantastic hosts. @Derval, thanks for getting the east coast conversation going again. Looks like all @feraco needed was a reason to get this together. @Feraco: Outstanding job! You can't imagine how much to group appreciates the effort you put forth in getting this together. It's not easy and you did a wonderful job. But, next time, tell Mother Nature that 1 degree (C) is just too damn cold! d.

Thanks guys I wish we had some more Buzztouch super fans here in NY I would do this every weekend. Its nice to talk to people who understand whats going on in your app world. David I always learn something just listening how your mind processes information. I feel like that meeting made me skip a few levels putting me on level 46. If anyone ever want a meet up in NY just send me a message. These meet ups are purely organic in nature and would love to pick more of your brains.

Cool! Wish I was there. You've got quite a gang... more than I have with my monthly meets, despite my best efforts.

We need to bridge these meet ups eventually. This was the first NY meetup. Hoping to keep the buzz going and get more bt users out here.
