BuzzDay Oxford... how amazing!

Hi guys, Yesterday, BuzzDay 2013 took place. It was fantastic. I can't really put the whole thing into words. 14 people came! That is 7 times I get in my monthly meets. There were no no-go's, which very good. It shows that the Buzztouch community are honest. But better than honesty is just the sheer interestingness that everyone had. We had very very informative talks from many people, as well as a lovely chat with many of the great UK and European Buzztouch users. I doubled my knowledge about apps yesterday. I'd like to thank everyone who came to BuzzDay. You are truly sensational and made the event possible. Without attendees, what is it?.. a room with a lonely teenager. So here is a list of the 14 who came: Thomas Boyd (myself) David Book (The big boy. He's in charge.) Susan Metoxen (Plugin development) Andy Kitts (Kittsy) John Rooney (John from London) Arne Reddy (Capped Crusader) Derval O'Neill (Dervalo) Rohan Rennard (Rohan) Stephen Milburn (JimmySaver) Stephen Stafford (stephenstafford) Miguel Madeira Rodrigues (MadRod) Las Oke (Dragon007) John Higgins (Higgey) Stephen Tallett (OneAppBeta) I give special thanks to David Book and Susan, who flew all the way from the USA. Susan is actually about 15 metres away from me as I write this, while David is flying back home right now. They both have taken a lot of time, effort and tremendous costs to fly over here to Britain. David spent more than 24 hours travelling to get here on Friday. He also has an interesting yacht experience to talk about. I also want to highlight that Miguel (MadRod) and Derval (Deravlo) have flown quite some distance to be with us. Miguel flew from Lisbon in Portugal. I expect he has landed by now and is back with his family. Derval has come from Milan to be with us and has stayed the night in London. Presumably, she is back in Milan now. Arne Reddy (Capped Crusader) deserves a special mention, who has filmed the whole event with each of the afternoon talks. Expect this to go onto YouTube in the future. He brought a suitcase full of filming kit, the sort of kind you'd find in a Hollywood film set. His job is far from over though, because he very kindly said he will edit and clip it down suitable for short videos on YouTube. During the day, I took many photos of the event, one of them being my new Buzztouch profile picture. I have, for the first time, revealed my face on my public profile. I have selected the best ones and have posted them on my website: http://www.buzztouchoxford.com If you've got more video/photos to publish, please send them to my email. I've still yet to decide when the next monthly meetup is. I am deciding between the 4th November, as we can have a longer 4-5 hour meet, or Tuesday 12th November, where it will just be a normal two hour meet. In any case, I hope to be seeing you guys very soon. Thomas Boyd BuzzDay Organiser http://www.buzztouchoxford.com

MrDavid, lets set a date for the San Diego meetup in January. I know it will be hard to beat Thomas' event, but with more planning time maybe we can do it!

Nothing is impossible, Susan Well, having said that, it would be impossible for David (the Book one) to beat my organisation. I think we all know what he is like.

You know, there is nothing like meeting in person. Second best is the meetings we have on GoToMeeting, but only 6 can share their screens at a time.

Thomas did a fantastic job with his organisation and it was so good to see so many people travel so far to make this event happen. I know I got a tremendous amount out of it and I am now bounding with enthusiasm for app making with my increased knowledge! Never again will I ask "can I" because I will always think "how do I?" Awesome, awesome day with lasting benefits. Buzztouch rocks!

@Susan @MrDavid - Attendees aren't anything without organisation. Organisation is nothing without attendes. @Kittsy - I think that time travel is impossible with Buzztouch @Pancho @farcat - Tags on the website are coming soon. @Pancho - Yes, I am only 14. Or should I say, "14: too old!" To everyone else - If the timings are all correct, I really want to go to BuzzCon. As JimmySaver says, the USA seems more possible now, and I feel I owe David a massive favour (or he says 'favor').

Hi all, I know it's too early to think of Christmas right now, but I'm planning the next Buzztouch meetup which will be the last of the year. There is a shortage of people wanting to attend this one, so I would be good if you could attend too, if possible. So it's the usual drill, I'll tell you what the details are: Location: Berlitz Langauge Centre 131 High Street Oxford OX1 4DH (same as BuzzDay) Date + Time: Thursday 28th November 16:00 - 18:00 (with a pub stop) So I hope to quickly recap over BuzzDay and have a nice social gathering. The more people we get, the less we have to hear about David's new yacht club in London. Hope to see you there, Thomas Boyd Annandale Apps http://www.buzztouchoxford.com

Hi all, I'm sure you know the regular Oxford meetups. If you don't, it is a great way to share knowledge, problems and issues with each other. It's like the forums but extended into reality. I have had tremendous fun over the last year doing this and I hope my attendees have also had fun too. I have learnt tonnes of new knowledge, and I'm not exactly a beginner. Everyone is welcome to attend, and its free of charge. Even the tea and coffee is free! If you're a guest, member, beginner or expert, you are all welcome to come along. Often I have learnt a lot from beginners, because I get fresh ideas. I have organised a meeting on the last Thursday of the month. So here are the next three dates: 30th January 2014 27th February 2014 27th March 2014 16:00 until 18:00 However we do tend to add some extra time with a pub stop after the meeting. I won't confirm dates beyond this, however it gives you plenty of notice for upcoming meetings. Here's the venue location: Berlitz Language Centre 131 High Street Oxford OX1 4DH During the next meetup (Jan), I will be announcing some more information on the big autumn event. I hope to see you attending! Thomas Boyd Buzztouch Oxford organiser http://www.buzztouchoxford.com PS. If you're further north of Oxford, I will be visiting Birmingham and Edinburgh shortly. Anyone want to meet there? However these will be one-off meetings, and not regular.
