Gotta agree with Smug. No matter how many android phones and tablets are sold, the Apple products will still be viewed higher.

I just bought an Android tablet off ebay for $75 for testing purposes. 1gb ram, 8gb memory, dual cameras, and OS 4.0+. Hard to compete on quantity sales at that price point. But, where do the profits lie? Google got $0 from my purchase, and I'm likely to spend $0 on apps. Even if it were my only tablet, I doubt I'd spend more than $10 on apps for that cheap of a tablet. But no problem laying down that much for a single app on my iPad. Quantity doesn't equal profits ... whether for the manufacturer or for us as developers.

Interesting, @hacerapps. I know for me, I'm much more likely to buy an iOS app than one for Android, mostly because of the interface. For me, personally, iOS apps tend to be more visually striking. Just my preference. Mark

yea same here , also i think the goal of google is to have more users on there devices or services so they can make money with ads just look at the new chromecast maybe the profit is cero but think all the money they will be making with the ads on every tv

Yep! Google ad revenue model has always been via advertisements...makes sense that Android would follow suit there.

That's a perfect illustration of how I view the Google app market. It's similar on iOS, but I bet you'd get more paid downloads than 5. Can't wait to I create an app that gets 20,000 downloads a day!

i really think the app got that many download was because nobody is targeting the spanish community that leaves the market open

I use both but find I have been digging my Android tablet more of late for a few reasons- 1) The SD card slot 2) Plays almost any audio/video file I throw at it. No need to convert stuff I download before I can listen/watch it. I still can't believe how difficult it still is to get movies or music on idevices. I despise iTunes. Rockbox FTW - listen to 24-96 Audio on your tablet! 3) It feels disposable at the $130 I paid. Much more care free hauling this thing around on the train/park, etc. A $99 Apple "care" plan when you can just buy a new tablet when I break or lose this thing.
