How to make money with free apps

Ok guys, so I've been using this SDK for one day and am so blown away by the results that I had to share them here. It can be found at https://www.revmob.com/ - The person that sent me the e-mail about it actually told me to keep it on the down-low as it is relatively new (they recently hit the 1000 account milestone) , but it's seems selfish not to share it with my fellow buzztouchers :) It's incredible easy to integrate - just one line of code that works perfectly with buzztouch apps. When the user opens the app, a pop-up comes up that says ''Download a free game?'' with the options ''yes'' or ''no''. If a user clicks yes they are taken to one of the numerous "farming" games in the app store (the one's that have $99 in-app-purchases). If the user actually installs and opens this app, you get paid around $2 I've always been hesitant to get involved with ads because I've heard so many people say they don't make any money off of them, but this method seriously works. These big "freemium" game companies are willing to pay you $2 per download because they expect to get much more back from the new user. I used it in my app "One Direction Fan Club". This app was paid at first and was averaging about $20 and 34 downloads a day - honestly those are really good numbers for any app, but I felt like it could do better so I made it free to see if it would climb higher in the rankings. Since then (about 20 days ago) it's been averaging 2,456 downloads a day. Long story short, since the update for my app that includes the SDK was released yesterday I've made $126 in ad-revenue in a 24 hour period. That's from 44 people installing the advertised game. Anyway, I thought you guys might be interested - Even if you have a free app that gets 500 downloads a day theres a good chance you can make $25 a day off of it, so check it out! - and keep it on the down-low ;) BTW this isn't a scam - it's been used by some big money-makers in the app store such as Jump Pack and Ant Smasher

I didn't think www.revmob.com needed to be kept on 'the low down', it's been around for a while and easily found in the search engines. It's a similar cpa incentivised advertising model to leadbolt, jumptap, tapjoy, smaato and lots of others. It's not a great idea to make hypey posts with referral links in them, without saying they're referral links... Just sayin'

@ceerup: no it is a free game - it's just one of the games such as Farmville that expects users to spend more money within the app @raveyd: It's all about the method used - with leadbolt, tap joy, etc. you're lucky if your eCPM is $10, but revmob basically guarantees an eCPM of at least $25 by advertising a free game right when the app is launched. Plus it's much easier to integrate than most. About the referral link - thanks, I didn't even realize I did that :P (fixed) @ App Master: this tutorial on the website worked flawlessly for me - http://sdk.revmob.com/sdks/ios/docs/index.html - you can ignore step 2 since the system configuration.framework is already a part of buzztouch projects

Is the app name you installed it one "One Direction Fan Club"? I see it in iTunes, but not Android. Have you tried integrating this revmob into an Android app? With your iOS app, are you using it along with iAds, or that alone? Would you use it along with Leadbolt, or is that not really a good idea? What about push notifications? I heard there's some type of website where you can further monetize your app with push notifications, but I can't remember what it's called. Would it work in conjunction with this? Sorry for all the questions, I just use Leadbolt right now, and the user experience seems to be diminished by their system being sort of intrusive. It's sort of a double edged sword - you as a developer can keep the pop-up type ads, piss off users, but get a decent revenue, or you can have the little banner ads, keep users happier because they're not bothered by them, but not get much earnings.

I know absolutely nothing about coding, but this is what works for me: 1 -- Open the sample project and then drag and drop ''BCFAds.a'', ''BCFAds.h'', ''BCFAdsDelegate.'' into your project (I check "add to targets" and "copy items into destination group's folder (if needed)" - I don't know if it's necessary, but I do it and it works) 2 -- Check to make sure ''SystemConfiguration.framework'' is in your ''Frameworks'' folder (it should be there already if you downloaded the source code from buzztouch) 3 -- Add this to your apps delegate.h file right under #import ''BT_audioPlayer.h'' #import ''BCFAds.h'' 4 -- Right underneath where you just added #import ''BCFAds.h'', there should be a line that says @interface Your_App_Name_appDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate, etc..... 4.1 --right next to where it says UIApplicationDelegate, add this line BCFAdsDelegate 4.2 -- the whole statement should now look like this @interface Your_App_Name_appDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate, BCFAdsDelegate, BT_downloadFileDelegate, UITabBarControllerDelegate, AVAudioPlayerDelegate, UIAlertViewDelegate>{ 5 -- Find the spot in your apps delegate.m file, right under where it says -(BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions{ 5.1 -- Add this line right underneath [BCFAds showPopupWithAppID:@''4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c'' withDelegate:nil]; the id shown above should be replaced with the one you get when you add your app to the rev mob site HERE'S A SCREENSHOT OF THE DELEGATE.H FILE (THE IMPORTANT CODE IS HIGHLIGHTED) - http://s18.postimage.org/cj28l52rt/Screen_Shot_2012_05_23_at_6_30_24_PM.png HERE'S A SCREENSHOT OF THE DELEGATE.M FILE (THE IMPORTANT CODE IS HIGHLIGHTED) - http://s12.postimage.org/ekevhicn1/Screen_Shot_2012_05_23_at_6_41_23_PM.png That's All...let me know if anybody has luck

@ Daniel: 1st question - Yes it is ''One Direction Fan Club" and no I don't have the app on android, or any apps for that matter. The website indicates that Android is fully supported though 2nd question - I am not using any other ads, pop-ups, banners, etc. I can't say for sure if it would be a good idea or not, but I would personally avoid overwhelming the user with too many ads for the sake of maintaining decent reviews 3rd question - Don't know anything about that

Another great tip @absentia- thanks. This might not be suitable for all apps but I am keen to explore all options to monazite apps so that I can keep developing new ones. So thanks again for the advice. I know that some users find ads and these kind of popups annoying in their apps but developers need to get something back from their creations so that they can keep on creating new ones.

Yeah revmob is nice.. Been testing it for a little over two weeks.. Pretty nice income even for the European non English market which surprises me.. My highest day is about $100 .. Ads can be tricky for the end user but they have an way choice plus the ad is small and can be implemented on different buzztouch screens or by click of a button.. My favorite feature that the just implemented is the pause ad..I could have a paid app that I want to make free for a couple of days and play the ad during that period and not to lose income.. Also I noticed during updates the income obviously is higher. But it's great overall because iAd,leadbolt and air push aren't even close to these numbers!

Thanks absentia, For sharing this with us. Tutorial is working fine. For non-programmers: If you copy and paste the code absentia has given, make sure that you replace every ''(in the code are 2 single quotes used) with " (double quote) otherwise it won't work and you'll get errors. Best Regards, Danny

@Absentia thanks for sharing this new source for generating some income on free apps. I just visited the site downloaded the android sdk and followed the instructions given on this link: http://sdk.revmob.com/sdks/android/docs/index.html but, i have not achieved any success in implementing it successfully. I would appreciate if someone guides me on implementing revmob on android devices.

@Absentia, I didn't mean for you to remove the referral link, just make it clear it's a referral link! I guess I'm on too many forums where a post like that would be flamed! @Sandeep, mysps and I looked at this a while ago and it's a 2 minute integration for the most basic set up, I got this working on bt1.5 and 2.0, but I think mysps had some problems with 1.4? @mysps, sorry for not replying, I didn't even know I had those messages! Add jar file to a lib (or libs) folder and built the path. My app uses a button menu for the home page, so I've put the code in the BT_screen_menuButtons.java file, but the same revmob code can go in any screen you like. Add import: import com.bcfg.adsclient.BCFAds; Then I've put the revmob code in the onCreate method below this line: LinearLayout baseView = (LinearLayout)findViewById(R.id.baseView); So it looks like this: LinearLayout baseView = (LinearLayout)findViewById(R.id.baseView); String myApplicationId = "xxxx -id number- xxxxxx"; BCFAds.showPopup(this, myApplicationId); //setup background colors... And I've just added the wifi permission to the manifest: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE"/> hope that helps.

I've imported it in other screens with no problem. add to the .h file delegate and then to the screen .m file and you should be good to go.

OK, I know this is a dumb question, but I want to make sure I do it right. The documentation on the Revmob site looks pretty easy to me. So, my question though, is, if I submitted my app to Google Play yesterday, and it's already live, do I need to re-compile the app with all the new stuff in the lib folder, then re-submit the updated APK file to Google Play, basically making a version 2.0 of my app? Or do I just re-compile what I already have? Dumb question, I know.

@Absentina Mind if i ask how the revenue going with the revmob? Still at a good clip? You should have had a few downloads yesterday - I had my wife show this app to her students who are all the target age "One Direction" fans. She said a bunch of them we're racing home to install it....

@atrian, I would love to hear this as well. I'm a little nervous about updating this code, but I think the worst that could happen is I botch something, and then I just upload my original APK file again, right?

@ ATRAIN the revenue has been awesome - so far $900 in the 10 days I've been using it. It definitely jumps around a lot - my lowest day was $52 and my best was $142. Tell your wife I said thanks :P here's a screenshot of the dashboard if anybody is wondering about click through rates, ecpm, etc. - http://s16.postimage.org/aw997py45/Screen_shot_at_2012_06_01_9_21_54_AM.png I expect it to settle at a modest number...eventually everyone will have seen it and conditioned themselves to automatically tap 'no'. What's cool is I recently got an e-mail from revmob saying full-screen ads will be available for iOS any day now (I think they already are for android) so that will be a whole new way to grab peoples attention

yes ceerup you can. all you have to do is follow raveyd's tutorial above and recompile your app and submit it to google play store. the store will update your app to new version within few hours of submission. you can literally set up revmob sdk to your app within few minutes or even less than a minute.

When you publish a new version, don't forget to change these in AndroidManifest.xml: android:versionCode="2" android:versionName="1.1" versionCode needs to be incremented from the previous version you put out. It can be any number, as long as it's greater than the last. versionname is what the user sees in Google Play. It can be whatever you want. Mark

actually the tutorial which is directed to me is tutorial for android bt 1.5 and 2.0. i have successfully implemented the revmob sdk to my app. GoNorthWest is correct, you just have to increase the version code inorder to get your app approved by google play store. just follow the steps from the tutorial of revyed and also dont forget what GoNorthWest suggested.

You have already added admob successfully to your app. So this would be easy for you. Any how i will explain in short which you will find helpful: 1. create lib folder in your project and copy the jar file in it. 2. right click project file and go to proerties -> java build path -> add the jar file from lib. 3. Now the tricky part. Since your home screen is not button list menue, i assume it is simple menu list. so now open the BT_screen_menuList.java and add import: import com.bcfg.adsclient.BCFAds; 4. Put the revmob code in the onCreate method below this line: LinearLayout baseView = (LinearLayout)findViewById(R.id.baseView); So it looks like this: LinearLayout baseView = (LinearLayout)findViewById(R.id.baseView); String myApplicationId = "xxxx -id number- xxxxxx"; BCFAds.showPopup(this, myApplicationId); //setup background colors... 5. Add the wifi permission to the manifest: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE"/>

ok. this is what it looks in my project. i just fixed with the pop up option and it added the @SupressWarnings("deprecation") just above the @override. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //activity life-cycle events. //onCreate @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") @Override

i think this has to do with adding the jar files, can you explain how to exactly add it, because i searched Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1 and it has something to do with there might be 2 in the project, i dont know im confused

first of all i wanna clarify you that i am an advocate by profession and not a programmer so, i know less about codes. secondly, have you seen the video tut of raveyd adding admob? it shows how to add jar file in lib folder and then adding jar to libraries by going to java build path. i have already explained it but here it goes. 1. create lib folder in your project and copy the jar file in it (just implement copy paste). 2. right click project file and go to proerties -> java build path -> libraries -> add the jar file from lib folder. Also dont forget to check the checkbox of revmob3.0.0.jar in order and export. this might be the reason that its not working with your app.

Thanks for taking over Sandeep, great job! I'd just like to add that if you have everything in eclipse up to date, make sure that the folder is called 'libs' and not 'lib'. It seems an irrelevent difference but 'lib' can throw errors in the project.

Thanks Mate! Really not sure what's happened. I got an app suspended, then another, then another, then the account went. All I get is emails referring me to the TOS. The funny thing is, the exact same apps have been manually approved at Amazon, Getjar, HTC, Samsung and a lot of others. Samsung alone was a 5 step certification process covering everything from performance to copyrights. Accepted with no problems. I'm a bit stumped to be honest! I'm in the process of porting them to Blackberry, then thinking about biting the bullet and going with Apple... Gulp!

Nothing out of the ordinary mate. It happened a couple of days ago. I panicked a bit at first, but there's nothing I can do about it. One of the apps has a lot of active members so it'll sustain earnings for a while, while I look at Blackberry and Apple. Not too worried as it can be cross platform. I guess it's made me look at alternative platforms earlier in my learning than I would have liked, but who knows? Maybe that's a good thing? @Macapple - they were seriously twisted there for a while!

@DanielSan have you made sure that the folder you put the revmob jar file in is called 'libs' (not 'lib') and is situated in the right place in the project? (Right click your project > New > Folder - name it 'libs' without the quotes). Once you have it added drag your revmob jar file into the folder and follow the prompts, then right click on your project again and select Properties > Java Build Path > Libraries > Add Jars and when the box pops up navigate to the revmob jar file in the libs folder, select it then hit ok and ok again. Once that's done, just add the code posted above and it should be good to go!

Can't remember Ceerup, I think you should, it's only a pop up dialogue box. Although since I tried it a few weeks ago there's now that depracation error that pops up for some people and I don't know what they've changed to cause that.

OK, this is what I've done, sort of merging what several people have said, because I am using a Menu List Simple. I was able to download the Android SDK from the actual RevMob site (I think they were doing maintenance or something. I unzipped the zip file, and then, I did the steps by Sandeep 1. create lib folder in your project and copy the jar file in it (just implement copy paste - the jar file is called revmob3.0.2.jar). 2. right click project file and go to proerties -> java build path -> libraries -> add the jar file from lib folder. Also dont forget to check the checkbox of revmob3.0.0.jar in order and export. Then, I did this, also suggested by Sandeep: 3. Now the tricky part. Since your home screen is not button list menue, i assume it is simple menu list. so now open the BT_screen_menuList.java and add import: import com.bcfg.adsclient.BCFAds; -----> for this part, does it matter WHERE I put this? <--------- 4. Put the revmob code in the onCreate method below this line: LinearLayout baseView = (LinearLayout)findViewById(R.id.baseView); So it looks like this: LinearLayout baseView = (LinearLayout)findViewById(R.id.baseView); String myApplicationId = "xxxx -id number- xxxxxx"; BCFAds.showPopup(this, myApplicationId); //setup background colors... 5. Add the wifi permission to the manifest: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE"/> I compiled and didn't get any errors, but I'm not seeing any popup ads or anything in the emulator. Should I be seeing that?? Any ideas on where I went wrong, with this very limited info? (and great, after I get this fixed, I get to compile an Android app in XCode - whoohooo)

@Daniel LaRusso i just finished compiling app for ceerup and implemented revmob successfully. When i tested my app (sometime in last two weeks before), i tested it directly on my device. but today i tested ceerups app on emulator first and i did not see any ads. later i tested it on my device and now the ads show up. so try testing it on a device and see the results.

Well holy moly - it looks like it worked! What happened is that when the splash screen opened up the main menu, there was a small popup that says "Download a FREE game" (Yes Sure) (No Thanks) Looks like I did it right, yes? So, now, to submit it to Android again, I need to make a revision number and build a new exportable apk, right?

Yeah, I made a libs folder, put it there, no problem. I can see that "do you want to download a game" when I install it on my device, so I assume it worked. It was as easy as heck to do this, if it ends up working.

@Daniel LaRusso in order to confirm your decive is running revmob you can just login to your revmob account and check the impression counts. it gets updated instantly. and for iOS implementation just check the post of Absentia for iOS tutorual in this thread.

Oh,cool, I got it Sandeep! I guess that's why some of the delegate.h and stuff were in what @Absentia put in - applies to XCode. I'm seeing the impressions increase a little bit, hopefully I'll start to see some revenue. Now it's off to dust of the cobwebs of how to compile in XCode. Thank you all for your help!

Ok. Call me crazy, but my 1.4 is still doing well and I would like to place the revmob along with admob. But I think I need to increase API level to use this or something. I'm no genius but I think I counted every bracket to make sure I had good syntax and still no cigar. I think I am having the same fantom issue as @daniel l but I'm not sure if its me or the fact that you have to test on a real device. (My two devices) would not load the app even though there were no errors. So: 1. Do I need to use one or the other? Or can I use both simultaneously? 2. What level target and min API are you building for that made these revmobs work? 3. Anyone using full screen ads? ...I need to hit my customers with videos for the pain I'm going through for their free info! Laugh out loud ...still sleepy from watching the posts to self-correct lastnight (no luck yet)

Ok, Sandeep got my Revmob to work, but admob doesnt work. And Im not sure what to keep. Admob will probably make less money Revmob will annoy the app user (it pops up even after you click no, numerous times in 1 session)

@ ceerup That must be an android thing...on iOS it only pops up once when the app is opened - it usually doesn't pop up again until the app is completely exited and re-opened (i.e. not still running in the multi-task bar)

yeah, people actually have to install the game for you to get paid. I think what you get paid depends on which game the link directs the user to. So far I've been averaging $2.93 per install

config.java is for admob. you get a notepad and paste the code in raveys guide into a notepad, save it as config.java and put it in your src folder.

also for revmob since i go through the screen_menulist.java the popup is going to keep coming on when you go to a menulist screen therefore where else can i put the string so the popup just comes one time?

@ mysps - thanks for the heads up - added the code to other screens in xcode project and worked fine. I'll probably try putting into bt 1.4 app next (ios and android), although I think raveyd said you were having problems with 1.4 android and revmob...

Hi guys, I'm CEO of RevMob and the BuzzTouch user Intrege was kind enough to let me know some of you are discussing RevMob integration. He asked us for help and here I am. I want to offer you full technical support at [email protected] and I'd also be happy to address any specific business questions you guys might have -- my personal e-mail is [email protected] We're currently delivering KILLER eCPMs, by far the highest out there, and we're always baking new SDKs that pretty much always double current eCPMs. May I advise you all to run the Full-Screens (new best ad unit) and popups (if Full-Screens are not available yet) during boot-up. Yes, showing the ads when the app opens converts best and assures highest eCPM. Also, stay tuned for our new Full-Screen ad unit (ETA for iOS Obj-C: tomorrow) that should really nail it. Full-Screens are already available for Android Java. Welcome aboard my friends! By the way, we are really impressed with the tips you guys have written. We really learned a lot from your posts. @Absentia -- thanks for creating this topic and for all your contributions. Thanks, Gui

GUI, Looks like you take a personal interest in your product. I definitely appreciate that. Also as stated above, it seems like there is conflict between admob and full screen revmob on android buzztouch 1.4 projects. Is there a known solution for the benefit of everyone in this forum? Thanks in advance, Sevens

@Sevens - would you be kind enough to send me error logs and if possible detail what happens when you try to run both, so I can have my technical team find the answer? I'm a programmer myself so it'd be interesting to solve this issue. Also, can you confirm you're using the latest version of our Android SDK, 3.0.2? Guys, I am also a developer, and I made Ant Smasher which has 25 million downloads on Android and 15 million downloads on iOS. It's one of the top 10 most downloaded games of Android's history. I used AdMob in Ant Smasher for a long time, and that was the primary reason I created RevMob in the first place -- their eCPM is just SO LOW and I as a developer needed way more revenue!!! So for those of you that like me are tired of their low eCPMs at AdMob, we have POPUPs, FULL-SCREENs (for Android only -- iOS arriving tomorrow) and BANNERS (for Android only -- iOS coming in 2-4 weeks) so if you want you can replace AdMob completely. And of course, if you want to run both, we'll do our best to make this happen! It seems AdMob excluded us from their Mediation support -- I wonder why... Just because we're not owned by Google or because we're not Google's friend?! Sorry, Google, our eCPM is way higher than yours (like 25 times) and developers have the right to have a choice. On our end, we certainly allow developers to run every ad network they want and I'm here to make sure you can. Thanks, Gui

@gui - would it be possible for you to build a dummy app, or use an existing one, and show me a screenshot of where you put the following code, so I can see exactly where to put it and how it should show up in my Eclipse project? Daniel-san say - teacher teach, student do. Paint fence - up, down, paint house - side-side, wash car - big circle package com.revmob.sample.developer; import android.app.Activity; import com.revmob.RevMobDevs; public class Main extends Activity { // Just replace the ID below with your appID. private static String APPLICATION_ID = "4f56aa6e3dc441000e005a20"; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); RevMobDevs.showFullscreenAd(this, APPLICATION_ID); } }

Ok guys, some of us have been facing problem with the pop up ad specially in the Simple Menu List Screen, which keeps poping up every time we return to Simple Menu List Screen. I've got a solution to fix that problem. Implementing this solution gives the pop up ad only one chance when the app is launched to show up. Instead of implementing the code either in BT_screen_menuButtons.java file or BT_screen_menuListSimple.java we got to put that code in BT_activity_root_tabs.java. Put the code in onCreate method as under (code is on the last two lines). The rest of the steps remain same as discussed above. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //activity life-cycle events. //onCreate @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); BT_debugger.showIt(activityName + ":onCreate"); String myApplicationId = "Your_Revmob_App_ID"; BCFAds.showPopup(this, myApplicationId);

@Sandeep you are about to be my new hero Can the first stepa to get to where you are be dumbed down any more for me? I have the parts where you add the jar to the libs folder you have to create, but does your step happen immediately after that now? Oh, and isn't there a step after where you change the revision number on the.mainfest.xml ?

@raveyd -- we don't support any form of incentivization, our advertisers don't like that, and Apple doesn't seem to like that either. And honestly we see eCPMs way higher than networks like tapjoy or flurry. @Daniel LaRusso -- thanks for sharing your code, I asked our Fullscreen expert to create an account at BuzzTouch and help you guys out. @Sandeep -- that's a very interesting approach. Actually the popups and fullscreens work BEST on application launch. The eCPM is highest on boot-up and the most impressive results come from apps shown when the application launches. I advise you guys to go for this because this is the way to best monetize your apps. Of course, if you can show the popups in other areas of the game, it'd be even better.

@Daniel LaRusso sorry for late reply but i was tired last night and went directly off to bed after my last post. here are all the steps you will require to set revmob and submit ur new app to play store. 1. create lib folder in your project and copy the jar file in it (just implement copy paste - the jar file is called revmob3.0.2.jar). 2. right click project file and go to proerties -> java build path -> libraries -> add the jar file from lib folder. Also dont forget to check the checkbox of revmob3.0.2.jar in order and export. 3. Open the BT_activity_root_tabs.java and add import: import com.bcfg.adsclient.BCFAds; 4. In BT_activity_root_tabs.java. Put the code in onCreate method as under (code is on the last two lines). ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //activity life-cycle events. //onCreate @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); BT_debugger.showIt(activityName + ":onCreate"); String myApplicationId = "Your_Revmob_App_ID"; BCFAds.showPopup(this, myApplicationId); 5. Add the wifi permission to the manifest: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE"/> 6. Change the version number and version name in manifest xml. More info on it can be found on the following link. http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/versioning.html 7. Export signed application package by right clicking your project file and choose your earlier keystore for the purpose of signing the app. then you are done to submit your app for play store.

@guischv I totally agree with you. The pop ups used to show each and every time so even i used to get annoyed while testing the app. i can only imagine how the end users might be feeling seeing the pop up every now and then. i have plans to implement banner ads on other parts of the app and tried to implement it on BT_screen_customHTML.java and BT_screen_htmlDoc.java file. So far i have no errors on eclipse but when i try to do monkey device test, the app gets crashed with forceclose error. we all here at BT would appreciate if you help us with a step by step video or pdf tutorial in respect of full screen ads and banner ads. lot of members here on BT are not programmers or developers including me so a tutorial would be really helpful to all of us. BTW i found that you developed the Ant Smasher game... I really like that game and kudos to you on developing such a wonderful game.

We'll also try to learn how to use BT so to better explain everything to you guys. If you could email me the error logs @ [email protected] maybe that can help us find the solution more quickly. Really appreciate your help in here and the step-by-step solution you just showed above will definitely help us understand how to best explain everything.

hi guys, there is a new documentation on revmob site: sdk.revmob.com; as @guischv said, soon we'll have a vd tutorial to help you. @LaRusso - it seems everything you're doing is correct, please check if you has given "uses-permission" properly in your AndroidManifest.xml file. The "uses-permission" we need are (copy and paste): <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE"/> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE"/> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.GET_ACCOUNTS"/> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE"/> In your eclipse, right click in your project and go to Build Path > Configure Build Path - In "Libraries", click in "add jar..." and locate to the revmob jar (usually we put this downloaded jar in a lib folder in the project) - In "Order and Export", check the revmob jar Create a class with this content: package fullscreen.sample; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import com.revmob.RevMobDevs; public class FullscreenActivity extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ private static String APPLICATION_ID = "PUT HERE YOUR APP ID"; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); RevMobDevs.showFullscreenAd(this, APPLICATION_ID); } } change the APPLICATION_ID with your App ID (go to www.revmob.com to see your App ID) In the AndroidManifest.xml, add this activity: <activity android:name=".FullscreenActivity" android:label="@string/app_name" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> This should work, let me know if you got this working.

Gui - Thanks for coming here to help us out! Love your take on the eCPM's and trying to fly independent of the Google mothership. Those numbers catch my eye and I'm workign on integrating revmob into an iOS app myself. Excited to hear about those new features! Great idea on creating a dummy app. This will give you guys a better understanding of how BT works. It's not like standard app maker software - it's BETTER because the BT JSON approach allows more dynamic content to be delivered without APP Store Updates. I've loked at flying outside BT with APPS but that feature can't be beat. The BT folks have mined gold here in this area. Let us know if you need help getting that BT app running. An honor to make your acquantince as the inventor of Ant Smasher - my kid has been playing it since age 2! Thanks for being here to help. The Scringo folks did the same and lots of us are having fun with it. Support is key.

@Absentia -- Fullscreens monetize better than Popups! But if you want you can call both (and create one different App ID for each) and pause/run at http://revmob.com the one that brings in the most revenue! @ATRAIN53 -- Thanks for your help, we'll do our best to get a BT app up and running ASAP. Glad your kid had some fun with Ant Smasher! It's really important for us to get honest and high-quality feedback like yours. @MacApple -- Please let me know if I or Ricardo can help. @Daniel LaRusso -- Ricardo created a BT app sample that should make everything crystal clear to you guys. He'll soon be posting the GitHub link for everyone to be able to download the BT sample app and checkout how the RevMob integration is supposed to work.

@ Gui Awesome thanks a lot for the response! I'm looking forward to checking out the fullscreen ads. One more question if you don't mind - it would appear that my revenue for the day was completely reset this morning. I checked one of my apps this morning and it was at $50 - a couple hours later is was reset to $0. Any explanation for the loss in revenue?

Yes Absentia, same here..i got an email that said this... In order to provide all these features, you guys will lose reporting for today for a brief period. It'll will be back until midnight and it's only an interface issue. These updates will allow us to boost your revenue server-side by implementing better algorithms. For those of you who have global traffic, I'm happy to inform that Fullscreens will be 100% localized to all languages available on iOS and Android. ETA for 100% localization: tomorrow. This is server-side so don't worry about SDKs. All the old SDKs will keep working. Finally, in addition to the increase in eCPM in the SDKs, there should be huge eCPM increases server-side.

@Absentia -- correct, as @ceerup said it'll all be back tomorrow morning. @ceerup, @raveyd -- you can do incents on Android, however there's no SDK support right now so right now you can only incentivize clicks instead of installs, which may increase eCPM. And we'll offer SDK support for this on Android very soon. We'll let you guys know when we do!

@Ceerup - Incentives are when you offer something to your user in exchange for them completing an offer or clicking a banner. For example, a user completes an offer and gets access to premium content on your app. I think they call it 'Freemium' nowadays! Used to be called soft incent. Hard incent is offering cash in exchange for completing an offer. Not many networks offer hard incent anymore, but soft incent is getting more and more popular, especially on Android, where nobody will pay for an app.

@Absentia -- If you're implementing it in the delegate, change "self" by the viewController as in: [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c" withViewController:viewController]; Maybe that's what's wrong?

@ceerup tapjoy is the famous incent network -- however they were banned from Apple a while ago: http://venturebeat.com/2011/05/31/tapjoy-says-apples-ban-on-promos-is-killing-mobile-game-profits/ and their eCPM is LOW too :/ We'll bring SAFE incentivization to RevMob in about a month though.

There are a lot of screens in that github site - which specific ones have the code inserted for RevMob? Again, thank you very much for doing this for us! And I don't know if this is possible, but could you highlight the code that you inserted that's specific to RevMob so it stands out? I'm really excited about this!! One other thing - in this earlier GREAT post by ricardo, you said to create a class with this content (content pasted below). How do you create a class? I'm thinking you just right click on the project, and go New -> Java Class. But are there any specifics that I need to know about source index, package, and name at the very beginning? (I think I'm really, really close to having this done!!!): Create a class with this content: package fullscreen.sample; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import com.revmob.RevMobDevs; public class FullscreenActivity extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ private static String APPLICATION_ID = "PUT HERE YOUR APP ID"; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); RevMobDevs.showFullscreenAd(this, APPLICATION_ID); } }

@LaRusso - you're right!! there are many things in github. The RevMob code are two lines only, located in BT_activity_base.java. The url is https://github.com/revmob-sdk/revmob_buzztouch/blob/master/src/com/revmobdemo/BT_activity_base.java Look for lines with "RevMob"! There are comments to help!

@ricardo - MUCH OBLIGED!!! I got that part with the BT_activity_base.java, and I got the manifest.xml part. I think that the one missing piece is this (from a little earlier post): You said to create a class with the content pasted below. How do you create a class? I'm thinking you just right click on the project, and go New -> Java Class. But are there any specifics that I need to know about source index, package, and name at the very beginning? @ gui Well there are really a number of things that I'm lost on - I, like many other buzztouch users, am very inexperienced with coding. I get confused easily without very direct instructions - For instance the tutorial on your site contains this line - "In UIViewController header file (.h files) of your choice or class that have a reference to the UIViewController, add an import statement for "RevMobAds.h" and import the library." - lines like that are hard for me to interpret because they aren't completely specific about the exact place to add "RevMobAds.h" I don't expect you to type up an idiots guide or anything :P I'm sure your documentation works fine for the majority of people. I fully expect somebody else on here will figure it out eventually and post a buzztouch tutorial

Hi any chance some one can put together an idiots guide to integrating RevMob Ads into both iOS and Android apps, as I just don't understand the process that many of you guy's have added to this post and I'm just stuck and don't get it, especially on iOS. Any help will be appreciated.

wow. thanks for the github and efforts ricardo and gui! great to see some sample code, that is the best way to really learn how to tweek the code. see it working in action then play with it. can't wait to get my app done so i can put revmob in it and see some eCPM's. designing and scheming currently.... Ant Smasher has saved many an outing. iphone/ipods work great for toddlers. the touch screen interface is a winner. this is why PC games never took off. Reader Rabbit on the PC was hard - but Reader Rabbit on the ipad my kid is excelling at it. whats the chance you guys would one up us here and talk a little bit about animation and what SDK's you use to build games like Ant Smasher. I've been studying Gamesalad a bit and looking to do some basic animation of a single image. say a corporate logo for instance..... so many tools/tutorials to look at. any tips in the right direction, stuff you guys like and would recommend would be great. thanks!

@LaRusso - We are learning how BT works and actually, i haven't created any class in the sample app. When you create a BT project, you can download a project with a BIG scaffold and you must identify where you put the RevMob code, depending of your project. So, when i downloaded the project, the BT_activity_base.java was in the scaffold and i just added the RevMob code there. I belive you must identify where you want to put ads in your BT project e look for the correct part of the scaffold to load the ads.

@ Gui I'm using bt 1.5 for iOS with revmob fullscreen Like Absentia, I had no problem implementing the pop up ads but have had problems with the full screen. Followed your advice: -- If you're implementing it in the delegate, change "self" by the viewController as in: -- [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c" withViewController:viewController]; But still doesn't work. Think it has something to do with this self.viewController stuff which wasn't in the original pop up instructions, but just removing the .self didn't work: ---// self.viewController must be initialized [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c" withViewController:self.viewController]; ---} ---- (void)dealloc { if (self.viewController) [self.viewController release]; [super dealloc]; ---} Could we get a step-by-step on this for buzztouch? Thanks

Guys OK I'll get Paulo to create a BT iOS project!!! @Absentia -- you're totally right, actually we found a much simpler way to do this. just insert everything on your UIDelegate (we updated the documentation yesterday to reflect this). and pass a viewController, as in: [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c" withViewController:viewController]; In any case, make sure you download the new SDK we released yesterday because it contains better examples! We'll post a new SDK soon with even better and more simple examples and better explanations. @Dragon007 -- same holds true, please download the newest iOS SDK because the documentation is better and it is better explained. We're preparing a new SDK with even simpler documentation, should be out by tomorrow. @ATRAIN53 -- Ant Smasher was built using the native Android and iOS tools! I didn't graduate a programmer. I learned programming by myself, it's not that hard and I like it... So I don't really know much about engines like GameSalad. I did it all by myself. @AppOneBeta -- same goes, try to download newest SDK. I'll get Paulo to create a BT iOS project!

That would be awesome I feel like I'm getting closer - these are the steps I go through: 1. I add #import "RevMobAds.h" to my appDelegate.h 2. I add "RevMobAdsDelegate" right next to "UIApplicationDelegate" in the @interface line in my appDelegate.h 3. I add the line "@property (strong, nonatomic) UIViewController *viewController;" to my appDelegate.h 4. I add the line "[RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"withViewController:self.viewController];" to my appDelegate.m inside the "didfinishlaunchingwithoptions" method The app compiles succesfully, but crashes immediately upon launch - anybody notice something I am doing wrong?

@Absentia, i'm getting the same. Probably due to getting errors in 'h' beforehand: Property 'viewController' requires method 'setViewController:' to be defined - use @synthesize, @dynamic or provide a method... And a similar error for 'viewcontroller'

@Absentia -- you're definitely almost there. Problem is you don't need to do step 3, you actually need to skip step 3. the viewController in step 4 should be already in the delegate. Can you take a look and see if there's any viewControllers already there and use that one? If there's no view controllers there, then do: UIViewController *vc = [[[UIApplication sharedApplication] keyWindow] rootViewController]; [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" withViewController:vc];

Maybe the following means revmob ads are working but needs to be tested on a real device to be seen - not in the simulator?? @guischv Thats a wonderful news for all of us on BT. We all have been looking for Revmob Fullscreen ads and Banner ads to work on our apps. Gui i really appreciate your interest in solving this puzzle and for such a wonderful support. I have seen many other sites who dont even care to address the developers problems. You guys at Revmob are really an exception to it. Kudos to you guys.

UIViewController *parentViewController = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; [self.window addSubview:parentViewController.view]; [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"4f340cc09dcb890003003a6a" withViewController:parentViewController]; Don't forget to change the App ID for the one you guys have. @Sandeep -- actually we realize publishers are the most important element in our business model. So we treat them like we love them. :)

@Sevens -- Updating the step-by-step guide Absentia was kind enough to create: 1. I add #import "RevMobAds.h" to my appDelegate.h 2. I add "RevMobAdsDelegate" right next to "UIApplicationDelegate" in the @interface line in my appDelegate.h 3. Add inside the - (void)applicationDidBecomeActive:(UIApplication *)application method the following code: UIViewController *parentViewController = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; [self.window addSubview:parentViewController.view]; [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"4f340cc09dcb890003003a6a" withViewController:parentViewController];

I'm with you ceerup. With all the back and forth between Android and iPhone, I'd love to see a full Android walkthrough. Sorry if I'm seeming redundant and dumb here, but I see a lot of potential for Android as well, and would really like to use RevMob @raveyd gave this GREAT tutorial at the beginning of the thread which works for the popups: Add jar file to a lib (or libs) folder and built the path. And I've just added the wifi permission to the manifest: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE"/> But I'm unclear on how to do the full page ad.

@guischv - I did look at that, and it's about as clear as mud. Earlier, ricardo also said that you only have to modify two lines of code, which are here (this is what Ricardo said earlier) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- @LaRusso - you're right!! there are many things in github. The RevMob code are two lines only, located in BT_activity_base.java. The url is https://github.com/revmob-sdk/revmob_buzztouch/blob/master/src/com/revmobdemo/BT_activity_base.java Look for lines with "RevMob"! There are comments to help! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The thing is, there's got to be more to it than that. I know that it probably took Ricardo just a few minutes to get this inserted in his app,and it probably took him longer to learn how to do Buzztouch, but he's likely 1) a programmer, 2) full time with RevMob, or a combination of both, so it comes naturally to him. I know that you're bending over backwards for us, but I think maybe people like me and ceerup and others could use a dumbed down, only what we need guide, with screenshots, if that's at all possible. Even just a step chart, like: 1 2 3 4 Sort of like you already have at RevMob, would help me tremendously. My end goal, and probably ceerup's (on your recommendation) is to serve up full page ads. Edited to add: even on those github screenshots, the folder is called "lib", and we've been told time and time again to name it "libs" It's just confusing with all this back and forth. If anyone can build a basic,dummy app with one screen, then do a video or screenshots of implementing RevMob, that would likely do the trick. If I can ever get this figured out, I'll do it! :)

They have videos of all kinds of speed implementation of sdk's. That would be incredibly helpful here. @GUI trust me sir, we would have given up long time ago if we weren't truly interested in ACTUALLY using your service. So be encouraged that you will have great fans and users after all this trouble.

@ceerup -- you get paid on the # of installs. user only has to install and open the game (doesn't need to do anything after that)

HOLY SMOKES!! Ricardo and guischv - BRAVO!!! I've got it working, no problem at all. The full screen ad looks great, and doesn't take away from the app at all. The only thing is, it only shows for about a half a second. I couldn't even read the full content of the ad. Someone who wanted to download a game wouldn't have time to click on it to download it. Is there a way to make it on a 3 second delay or something? Or would you advise putting the pop-up ads on the main screen as well? All in all - that YouTube video did the trick. I can't believe how much more complicated I was trying to make this!! Are banner ads this easy to do, because I'll be totally switching over to RevMob if I can do that!

@ gui First of all thank you for all of the assistance so far...it is extremely appreciated. Unfortunately though, your latest iOS solution has produced the same result - the app launches and I get the message "Showing Fullscreen Ad" in the output box, but nothing shows up on my device. I made sure that I used the correct app id and that the ads were running. I've included these screenshots of my project with the rev mob code highlighted - do you see anything that I am missing? The screenshots show the placeholder app id, but I tested it with my own Here is a screenshot of my delegate.h with the RevMob code highlighted - http://s13.postimage.org/haq02l22f/Screen_Shot_2012_06_07_at_4_29_29_PM.png Here is a screenshot of my delegate.m with the RevMob code highlighted - http://s15.postimage.org/6cx43b9kr/Screen_Shot_2012_06_07_at_4_30_09_PM.png

AHA I got it working - I just added this line - UIViewController *parentViewController = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; [self.window addSubview:parentViewController.view]; [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"4f340cc09dcb890003003a6a" withViewController:parentViewController]; to the BOTTOM of the DidFinishLaunchingWithOptions method, right before the line "return TRUE" - here's a screenshot if anybody needs it http://s15.postimage.org/671sj6tyz/Screen_Shot_2012_06_07_at_4_48_33_PM.png thanks again for all the help gui! Dudes - I can't believe how easy it was to integrate RevMob. I was WAY overcomplicating things, and that video totally showed me that. Implementing RevMob took, literally, about 2 minutes. I guess that's because I'm really familiar now with those libs folders, and the build and stuff, but it's SO easy to install the full screen ads. And they look great. I will likely get some negative comments on the app, but I don't really care. I've lately realized that the people who are prone to review and app are those who will do a negative review. I'll get some positive ones because of the app, but I'm ok with the negative reviews if they come. I did go and just unpublish my old app because I wanted to change the package name also, but it was easy. Unfortunately, it won't be totally live for another couple of hours, but that's ok. If this works out like I hope it will, I'm ditching Leadbolt totally, which is having some problems now anyway. Thanks for all the great support, gui and Ricardo! Good on ya!

@ Gui believe it or not I've encountered another problem :P After implementing the code as was mentioned in my above post, the app compiles fine and the fullscreen ads do show up. Only after closing the ad, my menu buttons are completely unresponsive - any ideas? I am definitely look forward to the iOS video

@Daniel LaRusso -- banner ads are as easy as fullscreens! you should definitely give them a try! @Absentia -- I know what's going on. Try replacing your code for this: UIViewController *vc = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; self.window.rootViewController = vc; [RevMobAds showFullscreenWithAppID:@"appid goes here" withViewController:vc]; @ceerup -- you just need to find a place where inserting the code works. can you give it a try?

@guischv i just saw the vid and implemented that code in my app and it really worked like a charm. My app is a having tabbed layout and has a splash screen. The ad some times shows up for only a few seconds and at other times it stays till i click the close mark button. In essence it really works and feels much better than the pop up ad. I have also integrated that code in @ceerup's app and despite his app being a non-tabbed one, the code went correct. Actually, you were correct, he did not find the right place to place the code. More interesting is that the fullscreen ad shows perfectly in non-tabbed apps and stays as long as users do not close it. I really appreciate your efforts in teaching us how to successfully implement the revmob sdk and yes, i almost forgot to tell you about the vid. Its very short and really very clear to the point. Thanks a lot for that. I am looking forward to set banner ads in my app just tell me what code do i need to put in my BT_act_base.java file.

@Sandeep -- great, I'll talk to Ricardo to see if we can prepare a banner tutorial :) and also we'll look into the situations when the fullscreens disappear a few seconds after they are loaded. This shouldn't be happening. Thanks a lot for your help!!! @Absentia -- MY BAD I forgot to write an "Ad" in the middle of the method. I was writing without xCode. Sorry :/ Here goes the right code, simply replace by the old one: UIViewController *vc = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; self.window.rootViewController = vc; [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"App ID goes here" withViewController:vc]; @Daniel LaRusso, @ceerup, @Sevens -- thanks for all your help!!!

@ gui It's just not happening for me...I inserted that code - the app launched and the pop-up showed, but once again the menu became totally unresponsive. It's almost like the app still thinks the pop-up is showing When I insert the code at the top of the didFinishLaunching method it doesn't show up at all, but if I insert it anywhere in the middle or at the bottom of the method it shows up and freezes the screen. I've tried it on two different apps with the same results where's all the other iOS guys...anybody gotten these going yet?

Hello Sevens, i'm happy that you implemented revmob fullscreen ad on your app. I am interested in your app mainly because of the socialize function you have used in it and it really looks like a pro app. I have been trying to implement it in my apps html screen but so far i am not getting any satisfactory results. Would you help me in implementing it? I have BT v1.5 and 2.0 apps for android.

@sandeep OK. Well. From what I learned in the learning paths, the Activity_Base is the please where you need to place the full screen lines of code. However in my 2.0 app, the place to put your full screen ads is different. You want to make sure you place the lines of code in an activity that will not be covered up by your tabbed view controller. So preferably after the last dataURL is loaded on the home tab. Disclaimer: I have not graduated with a programming degree but I do remember some basic principles.

OK guys, we worked HARD this Saturday. And this is as simple as it gets: 1. Download new SDK at http://revmob.com 2. Click "View Online Documentation" 3. Follow steps @Absentia, @AppOneBeta -- please just delete the code I sent previously, download and integrate new SDK from http://revmob.com, and add this code in the end of the - (void)applicationDidBecomeActive:(UIApplication *)application method: [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c"]; This should work!!! @Daniel LaRusso, @Sandeep -- Android banner videos are coming soon.

@ Gui - Thanks for the fullscreen ads advice - works perfectly for iOS. Now I'm trying to implement for a Buzztouch 1.4 Android app, but the Android video, step-by-steps on your site and here in the forum don't seem to be applicable! Do you have any guidance for how revmob fullscreen ads would be implemented in a 1.4 app? Anyone done it successfully? Thanks!

@apponebeta. I did do implement Revmob successfully. Check out "Shipit" in the android market. Free. Use the Act_Home.java file as if it were the activity_base.java file. All the normal rules apply once you find the equivalent place in that file. I'm still travelling, but I have been working on a few thing in the past few days. If no one helps u before Sunday, I will. @Sandeep, looks like I will be out of my office for a while. I will answer questions about socialize though. 1. Are you using IOS or Android? 2. Have you placed the lines of code in each individual view? 3. Have you signed up for accounts with facebook, twitter? 4. There is redundancy in the way my app uses the sharing abilities. I chose to allow sharing thru buzz touch plugins and thru socialize. The reason is that if there is an issue with socialize, I can still have sharing while repairing. Any specific questions?

Hi Guy's can you tell me whether the folder we must create in Eclipse should be 'libs' or 'lib' Reason why I ask this question is when I was adding the Parse notification framework I was told to create a folder called 'libs'. Can I add both frameworks to the same folder or do I need to create another 'libs or lib' folder? Also I keep getting a force close message since I added the RevMob framework, but not sure if it is linked to the folder created, any help will be much appreciated.

Hello Sevens, thanks for the support. I feel we should post our comment about the socialize sdk on the following thread instead of this thread in order to keep this thread clean. It would also be appropriate and helpful to others as many of them are not getting any success in implementing socialize in bt apps. I already have answered to your questions in my comment on the following post. Thanks a lot. http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=E1C5E1E2D2752CFDADB9103&sortColumn=FT.id&sortUpDown=DESC&currentPage=1

Hi Guischv I have followed your video tutorial to the letter, but I keep getting a force close on my android app. I get this message when I hover over the code: RevMobDevs.createFullscreenAd(this, "myid"); I get this message: This element neither has attached source nor attached javadoc and hence no javadoc could be found. Is this the reason why I cannot get the RevMob to work and keeps force closing my app? Can anyone help!

@Dragon007 Thats probably because you have not configured the revmob jar file to the build path in the library. If you have done so just assure that you also tick the revmob jar file box in order and imports of library.

Hi Sandeep thanks for the reply, I did ensure I had selected revmob jar file in the libery. I did notice that with the revmob sdk that I downloaded there is a folder called 'Extra' and in that folder there is another revmob jar file but it has javadoc in the file name, not sure if I am suppose to use that jar file instead. Not sure what to do as I have done everything in the video tutorial.

@Dragon007 - you don't need to use the javadoc jar file, just the revmob-3.0.3.jar file. Have you configured the build path? Two steps are necessary: right click in project and click in Build Path > Configure Build Path 1 - In  "Libriries", click in "Add JARs..." and select the revmob-3.0.3.jar (located in lib folder if you follow the video tutorial) 2 - In "Order and Export", check the revmob-3.0.3.jar Click "OK" With this config, the code RevMobDevs.createFullscreenAd(this, "myid"); should compile.

@Dragon007 - Another thing to check: has the RevMobDevs class been imported in the base activity? I mean: In the same file you put RevMobDevs.createFullscreenAd(this, "myid"), verify if "import com.revmob.RevMobDevs;" has been declared (there are many imports in the begining of the file). If not, just put this line together other imports, in any order. Let me know if worked. Thanks

@Dragon007- You should add import to the BT_avtivity_base.java file. When you open this file you will find other imports (which are miminised and can be expanded by clicking + sign on the left side where you find the line numbers) just add these lines --- import com.revmob.RevMobDevs; --- any where in those imports. Hope this might help you.

Hi Guys I have totally followed the video tutorial, but I still cannot get the ads to work. I have a few questions: 1. Do I need to add the whole RevMob SDK into my project or only the jar file? 2. Is the code I need to add is it "RevMobDevs.createFullscreenAd...." or should it be different? I have made sure that the "import rev..." has been added, but no luck at all, really struggling here.

@Dragon007 1. Only the jar file (revmob-3.0.3.jar) is needed, not the zip file! 2. The only call you must to do is RevMobDevs.showFullscreenAd(this, "Your App Id goes here");

Hi, thanks to Sevens and Revmob guides I've installed fullscreens on bt 1.4 Android apps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Utology My questions to all are - a) Are the ads working ok, not interfering with the apps? b) Have I overdone the ads from a user perspective? c) Do any ads other than Tiny Village come up at the moment? Thanks in advance - If you need me to check over your ads, let me know!

@ceerup - very strange this issue. Check again in your act_base.xml if you have two LinearLayouts: <!-- baseView is filled dynamically by each Activity .java class --> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/baseView" android:layout_above="@+id/revmob_banner" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/revmob_banner" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> the first one (@+id/baseView) is the layout where bt puts its data. Another thing: Fullscreen Ad has much higher ecpm compared to banner. Actually you can put both in your app.

Whoah - that banner integration looks really hard. Any pointers besides what you show in the video? Is there a way to do this with HTML on an HTML code section on each page within the app?

Hi Guys firstly this is the longest post I have ever come across or even had to read through to see if my question has already been answered, which I don't think it has. Anyway, wanted to know if there is any way to reduce the amount of times the RevMob ad appears, currently it opens up on every page a user enters, which I think is to much and greatly reduces the user experience to that of annoyance. Ideally I would prefer that there is a limit set to the amount of times it is viewed by an individual on a handset to about 5 impressions. This would work for me as I always want to put the user first ahead of me making loads of money. Is this possible?

yep @dragon007 i wrote it here: I've imported it in other screens with no problem. add to the .h file delegate and then to the screen .m file and you should be good to go. but you can also make a plugin for it to show up as well. so if you only wanted it to show up in the menu list screen, add to the menu plugins!

So far full-screen ads are awesome. My click-through-rate with the pop-ups averaged around 4% - CTR with the full screens for the last two days has been 54%!! eCPM is up nearly 100% as well

@Absentia -- that's great news!!! Congratulations for the successful implementation! And big thanks for your help! @ceerup -- has anyone tried to install an app after clicking on the RevMob ads? the payout per install is very big. so the more you show the ads, more people will install. Did you manage to setup Revmob banners? Showing banners in addition to fullscreens will probably double your conversions!

@LaRusso - in banner video tutorial, i did three things: 1. import the revmob-3.0.3.jar (you have already done this when using fullscreen ad, you don't have to do this again) 2. in the file act_base.xml file, i replaced these lines <!-- baseView is filled dynamically by each Activity .java class --> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/baseView" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> for these <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/revmobWrapper" android:padding="0dip" android:layout_margin="0dip" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <!-- baseView is filled dynamically by each Activity .java class --> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/baseView" android:layout_above="@+id/revmob_banner" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/revmob_banner" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> </RelativeLayout> 3. In BT_activity_base.java, added this lines: Banner banner = new Banner("Your app id", this); LinearLayout bannerView = (LinearLayout)this.findViewById(R.id.revmob_banner); bannerView.addView(banner); This shoud work!!!!

Hello, i successfully implemented the banner and the fullscreen ad, however im not happy that the fullscreen ad pops up all the time, can it just somehow be a one time thing? and if they x it out it wont come back the rest of the session? or a time limit? that would be awesome if you can successfully do that

@ Gui SDK 1.2.2 is currently running in two of my apps and is working great I experimented with implementing 1.4.0 into one of my apps and it seems to be having all kind of problems. When I put it at the beginning of the didFinishLaunching method it becomes unresponsive and launches one of my menu screens in the background - when I put it at the end of the method it doesn't show up until I exit and re-launch the app. I've actually tried this in two apps and gotten the exact same results both times

@ Gui The new SDK seems to be working fine except for one small issue - when the app is first launched, the little 'X' in the top corner of the full-screen ad doesn't respond to the first tap. It takes two taps on the 'X' to close the ad. When launching from multi-tasking it responds to the first tap @ ceerup Yeah the 1D apps are still doing pretty well..hopefully they continue to for a while

I'm struggling with iOS. I cannot get the full screen ads to show anywhere, despite using the new guide at RevMob. The error I keep getting is something like "cannot find AppDelegate.h", and the app won't compile I can get the popup menu to work fine, using @absentia's guide from very early in the thread, so that should tell me I can get this stuff to work. I'm just looking for some help, steps to use, to get the full screen ads for iOS. I am using a tabbed menu, with several screens with simple menus. Ideally, I would like the full screen ad to pop up only when someone goes to the tabs that are for simple menus, not on every screen. @absentia's guide worked fine for me like this:1 -- Open the sample project and then drag and drop ''BCFAds.a'', ''BCFAds.h'', ''BCFAdsDelegate.'' into your project (I check "add to targets" and "copy items into destination group's folder (if needed)" - I don't know if it's necessary, but I do it and it works) 2 -- Check to make sure ''SystemConfiguration.framework'' is in your ''Frameworks'' folder (it should be there already if you downloaded the source code from buzztouch) 3 -- Add this to your apps delegate.h file right under #import ''BT_audioPlayer.h'' #import ''BCFAds.h'' 4 -- Right underneath where you just added #import ''BCFAds.h'', there should be a line that says @interface Your_App_Name_appDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate, etc.....

@Daniel LaRusso -- you need the new SDK for it to work. You're using the old one. Can you download the new iOS SDK at http://sdk.revmob.com/? Then, delete all the BCFAds classes from your project (right-click Delete => Move to Trash). Then, follow the steps here: http://sdk.revmob.com/ios Let me know if it doesn't work. Thanks, Gui

hey @gui, that worked like a charm!! I will go on and submit this one to apple for now, but in the future, is it working to put the code on the menu simple screen to call up the popup for each screen? I'm totally satisfied with it as-is though! :) Thank you, and again, I can't believe how easy that was. Man, I was making this complicated!!

@Daniel LaRusso -- that's great news :) actually you guys contributed a lot so that we could make it as easy as it is now. as to the screens, the more screens you use, the better for your monetization, so this is actually your call. You can play around and call the Fullscreens (only that line of code and the #import) in different screens to see how it goes. Thanks, Gui

Yeah, it loads pretty nicely, guischv!! After I installed the app on my iPod and messed with it a little bit, the ads came up regularly enough that I'll be able to get some decent revenue, but not too much to be a pain in the neck. For some reason, it's less often than with the Android ads. Hey, if you're around here still, this is off topic, but I wanted to mention a suggestion for RevMob. I know y'all are doing really well, and making lots of updates that developers really like, and I'm going to work with you exclusively. You're so easy to work with and easy to use - it's awesome! But my suggestion is on the payout frequency. I could swear I remember where you pay weekly through Paypal. Is there any chance of the developer selecting how frequently they want to get paid? Personally, I'd rather get paid monthly, but I guess some people like weekly. That flexibility would be great, and something that other similar advertisers don't really have. Could really set you apart even more. Thanks for all the help you and ricardo have been. You've got a great platform going, and integrating Buzztouch with it is fantastic!

Payment is 45 days after the month ends, so you should be getting paid August 15th for everything you make in the month of June. They kind of do it the same way Apple does it except with an extra 15 days @ Gui Any ideas about the 'x' button ignoring the first tap on the full screen? Sorry..not trying to nag at you or anything I just wan't sure if you saw my last post :P

Hi guys, I heard some issues about fullscreen and popup being showed many times in android platform. So, for those who have this problem, a workaround can be resolve: 1. before onCreate() method in BT_base_activity.java put this: private static int session = 0; 2. replace the RevMobDevs.showFullscreenAd(this, "Your App Id") for this: if(session % 5 == 0) { RevMobDevs.showFullscreenAd(this, "Your App Id"); } session++; This code does two things: it shows fullscreen ad on app startup and after 5 screen changes. You can adjust this parameter as you wish, replacing the "5" for any other number. Thanks

Hi Gui, Ricardo With both iOS and Android, I've been able to place ads on particular screens or screen-types, but how do you: - Show new fullscreen ad after multitasking - Show every 1 to 2 minutes (by duration) Thanks!

@ AppOneBeta I don't know about Android, but for iOS this is how I get it to show up after multitasking - In your appdelegate.m, scroll about half way down until you see this method - //when app becomes active again - (void)applicationDidBecomeActive:(UIApplication *)application{ Just insert the one line of code that calls the ad at the beginning of that method. It should look like this - //when app becomes active again - (void)applicationDidBecomeActive:(UIApplication *)application{ [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:@"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"];

OK. I just tried to implement the new SDK for android from revmob, but no luck. Seems like the old commands don't show full screens anymore. Need new lines of code. I checked the documentation and I tried the code there with no luck. I had to delete and rebuild with old SDK. Any advice? This is for Android.

@ricardo. Hi, I've been looking through the documentation and can't find any reference to click listeners. Is this something you'll be implementing as it'd be really useful to get call backs, especially if you are going to allow incent as posted about by @guischv above. btw, any news on incent model? Cheers.

@raveyd - Hi. I am answering by @ricardo. We have listeners (delegate) but it is not documented in the RevMob site yet. But you can find a documentation in the RevMobAds.h file. With the RevMobAdsDelegate you can listen to clicks in the Ad or in the close button. Also, you can discover if the ad was loaded with success or not. About the incent, this is our TODO list to discuss.

@raveyd - We have some listeners for Android, but we are making improvements. We will release a new Android-SDK version in a few days with new listeners.

I'm going to email the tech support folks at RevMob, but I'm wondering if any of you have gotten this error when compiling or could help: Build Failed Undefined symbols for architecture i386: "_OBJC_CLASS_$_RevMobAds", referenced from: objc-class-ref in AppName_appDelegate.o ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture i386 clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation) EDITED: I think I have it figured out. It looks like I had an older version of the SDK or something, I had to drag a BCFAds.a folder into the project, then compile again, and it worked fine. This happened to me once before, even though I downloaded the SDK from RevMob right before I compiled the app. Oh well. Now it's working. Dare I try to implement socialize now.....

LOL. Funny you said that. i am also about to do Socialize. I had it working on a couple of apps, but at that time the Facebook key was a crazy process to get. They might have made updates since two months ago. I was thinking about doing Scringo. It looks a little better. My RevMob is working great. And the revenue is the best.

@intrege Check out the socialize post in the forum. There's some good info to get things running smoothly. This week was Google IO convention so Socialize staff was out. They're working on using GCM instead of C2DM since its deprecated now. Entity setup is difficult to start so keep Ann eye out for support in the existing posts for Socialize.

Dang. If I hear "entity setup is difficult to start" from you, Sevens, I'm going to hold off until Socialize can be dumbed down for the likes of me. I still have NO problems installing and implementing RevMob, and the earnings are quite good. Those guys are a class act.

I don't think they put a video, but if you go to to this site: http://sdk.revmob.com/ios they give some specific screenshots. For iOS it is SO easy to do - it's literally about 5 steps, including downloading and dragging and dropping the SDK. You copy 4 lines of code into the .h and .m files in xCode. When I say it's easy to implement, that's saying something. :)

Guys, two important notes about RevMob SDK: 1) We renamed our library to RevMobAds.a instead of BCFAds.a. So you have to remove the old library to avoid conflicts. 2) Every time you upgrade a version of the library, you have to replace all headers too, because probably they have important changes. @Absentia: We will investigate the issue with banners, but please confirm if you are using the last version of our SDK and you did those two steps cited above. @ceerup: We have plans to make screencasts, but in the mean time, you can send your doubts to our support team.

I don't know if this will be helpful, but my first app had BCFads in it already because I was using the old.SDK. when I updated to the new SDK, it worked. My second app did not work at all with the new SDK. I added the BCFads file to my project from my old SDK folder, and the app then compiled fine and ads showed up. This is for iOS

yeah I followed the instructions pretty close - the <...Delegate> line is right where it should be. Here's a screenshot of my delegate .m file - you can see there's a little error message underneath the banner line - http://postimage.org/image/h4s3w9481/

@Absentia -- I guess I know the solution :) make sure you update all the .h files for the new ones, including RevMobAds.h. To do that, just delete your old .h RevMob files, and drag and drop the new ones from the new SDK!

yes I did - I did manage to get it to work now though the documentation says to use this line--- [RevMobAds showBannerWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c" withDelegate:nil]; For some reason that line doesn't work, but the following one worked perfect for me --- [RevMobAds showBannerAdWithAppID:@"4fa45d1c2e8872000c0001b9"]; I think there is an issue with copying and pasting from the documentation so I had to copy and re-paste "showBannerAdWithAppID" from the header file, also I think you forgot to include the "Ad" in "showBannerAdWithAppID" in the documentation. Regardless of all that it is working great now

Another question - Is there any way to disable landscape rotation for the banner ad? My app doesn't support landscape so I think Apple would want the banner to be the same :) I tried this one... [RevMobAds showBannerAdWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c" withDelegate:(NSObject<RevMobAdsDelegate> *)delegate]; ...and I get the error "Use of undeclared identifier 'delegate'" I also tried this one... [RevMobAds showBannerAdWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c" withDelegate:(NSObject<RevMobAdsDelegate> *)Nil] ...that one launches fine but the banner still rotates

@Absentia Exactly, the documentation was obsolete. Sorry about that and thanks for your report. @Absentia again: We release the 1.6.0 version of iOS-SDK that improves the rotation feature of Fullscreen and Banner. It now calls the shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: method of the rootViewController of your application. These two statements are correct: [RevMobAds showBannerAdWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c"] [RevMobAds showBannerAdWithAppID:@"4f47e9ed5a804002a012f3c" withDelegate:nil]

@Absentia - Hi again. Where did you put the call to RevMob Ad? In the app delegate? You may try to put this code in the BuzzTouch app delegate: // In case you are using a rootTabBarController, or change that for your kind of controller. self.window.rootViewController = self.rootApp.rootTabBarController; After you did that, you can override the method shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: of that controller. Nevertheless, we are working to create a more independent solution for this. More info about BuzzTouch rotation: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=72A6D765C491BD79416CC3D&fid=06DB0BCB08E9999&sortColumn=FT.id&sortUpDown=DESC&currentPage=1

@Absentia - Hi again. We just released the 1.6.1 version of RevMob-iOS-SDK. With this version you can do something like that: [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:REVMOB_ID withDelegate:self withSpecificOrientations:UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait, UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft]; So I believe your problems will be solved. Could you try and tell us the result? Thanks in advance!

Could you possibly give me an example of the code for the banner ad? I try this one using 1.6.1... [RevMobAds showBannerAdWithAppID:@"4fa45d1c2e8872000c0001b9" withDelegate:self withSpecificOrientations:UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait]; ... and I get the error, "Class method '+showBannerAdWithAppID:withDelegate:withSpecificOrientations:' not found (return type defaults to 'id')"

@Absentia -- for Fullscreens it's: [RevMobAds showFullscreenAdWithAppID:REVMOB_ID withDelegate:self withSpecificOrientations:UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait, UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft]; For Banners, it's: [RevMobAds showBannerAdWithAppID:@"4fa45d1c2e8872000c0001b9" withFrame:CGRectMake(0,430,320,50) withDelegate:nil withSpecificOrientations:UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait, UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft];

Hi, This is my first time trying and I'm struggling with this step: 3. Now the tricky part. Since your home screen is not button list menue, i assume it is simple menu list. so now open the BT_screen_menuList.java and add import: import com.bcfg.adsclient.BCFAds; How do you actually open that? Where do i have to go. Probably silly question but i don't know lol.

you go into screenmenulist.java and go and type in import where all the other imports are under it and it adds it, but did you download the SDK and added the sdk to eclipse?

@ceerup Hi, you can try to use the method showBanner with the parameter withFrame. Check it in the header file (RevMobAds.h) Example of Usage: [RevMobAds showBannerAdWithAppID:REVMOB_ID withFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 50) withDelegate:nil]; regards

Nice and easy! Thankyou! Is it possible to have it pop up when you go to a specific tab ? rather than when the app opens ? I think i read above that it was possible but doesnt really help me to how i do it. My screen controlled behind that tab obviously has a name but i cannot see anything in BT_screens that match that name to be able to put the code in that specific .h/.m Please can someone guide me.....and make it almost idiot proof :) Im ok with the coding (if i knew where to put it) ;) Thanks in advance

Yeah you put it in the menulist.m screen inside of the "viewDidLoad" method. If you want it to keep showing when people come back to the tab, put it in the "ViewWillAppear" method as well

I put the import statement in the screen menu list .h and the [bcfads..... In the .m below the viewdidload{ After doing all this it still pops up when the app opens. ( yes I have removed everything from my app delegate files)

Got it working using the viewWillAppear. viewDidLoad seems to make it appear when you open the app. Although its not the first tab, it must load them all when it opens the app. Anyway, I'm happy. Thanks!

I'm not able to get RevMob Android going with the new SDK. Has anybody had any issues with this, or am I the only one? I got fullscreen ads to run before, no problem. Took about 30 seconds. Now, on new apps, nothing.

Anybody else implemented the Ad Link ads - it's a new RevMob ad option - you can have a button that says "More Games" that, when clicked, takes the user directly to an app in the app store (I used a blank rss screen that immediately loads the ad when selected) It's been working out really well - a lot of users will eventually get into the habit of exiting out of the full screen ad, but when they see something that says "more games" they will most likely click it out of curiosity. My revenue has nearly doubled over the last few days

On another note has anybody downloaded the new 3.0 sdk? It's a whole new system of implementation and I haven't been able to get it to work. The documentation on it is a bit confusing to be honest. Gui or Ricardo - if you guys are still checking up on this thread I would greatly appreciate some of your always helpful input on 3.0 Buzztouch implementation

@mysps I am using the sdk version 3.4.3 which is the latest one and it works smooth than the previous version. I have android apps created using bt v1.5 and 2.0 and it works on both of them. I also have seen one app made of 1.4 on the google play store which uses revmob. @Absentia Can you post the complete code that you added in the rss screen? I tried to add the code from the online documentation to a blank screen but it did not work out. The newer version is easy to implement on android but i do not how how it works on ios. If you need any further info about how to set it on android i can tell you about it.

This is how I got it working for iOS - First of all, make sure that on your buzztouch control panel, your rss url is blank. On your rssReader.m screen, where it says - //shows nav bar -(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated{ Add this line immediately after - [RevMobAds openAdLinkWithAppID:@"YourAppIdHere"];

Hi Absentia, in the 3.0.0 version is mandatory to call the method [RevMobAds startSessionWithAppID:@"YourAppIdHere"]; before any other RevMob method. Also, this is the unique method that requires the App ID. So the signature of the other methods change. Anyway, we will create screencasts about the 3.x.x version soon! Regards

@ricardo, I've been trying to adapt your code to show banner ads on Android to Revmob 6.0 but I couldn't make it work, I had a problem in this line "Banner banner = new Banner("Your app id", this); " I was able to show fullscreenads but not the banners. Any ideas? @paulocheque? 1. import the revmob-3.0.3.jar (you have already done this when using fullscreen ad, you don't have to do this again) 2. in the file act_base.xml file, i replaced these lines <!-- baseView is filled dynamically by each Activity .java class --> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/baseView" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> for these <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/revmobWrapper" android:padding="0dip" android:layout_margin="0dip" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <!-- baseView is filled dynamically by each Activity .java class --> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/baseView" android:layout_above="@+id/revmob_banner" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/revmob_banner" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> </RelativeLayout> 3. In BT_activity_base.java, added this lines: Banner banner = new Banner("Your app id", this); LinearLayout bannerView = (LinearLayout)this.findViewById(R.id.revmob_banner); bannerView.addView(banner);

Wow. Just had to read through the whole thing. I have to say its very useful, but reading through this many posts is a lot. This thread has by far the most replies in all the threads that Buzztouch has experienced. 371 is quite a lot of posts!
